The best (and probably only) advice I can give is to stick with your circle of friends and continuously quest with them. Avoid Duty and Party Finder like the plague and do the content together. You seem to be the leader of your own FC, so plan events that you and the people in your FC can do together as a group, like Coil and CT. (Sadly for the latter, there's still two other pug alliances you'll have to deal with)

Just keep your chin up and don't let the elitists bring you down. Not all of us are like them.

    Dungeons in general - no

Raids on the other hand I avoid like the plague. That's where the elitist jerks tend to show up. My one attempt at crystal tower was similar to the op - and confirmed my personal bias.

In my opinion it's because FFXI was same server parties only. If someone was a omega-douche, they'd kinda gain notoriety on the server and promptly blacklisted or ignored by most. Having duty finder cross server allows you to basically douche it up as much as you want with no penalty except being vote kicked (which also gives no penalty..).

Despite the majority of nice people the few rude ones ruin the game for me. It isn't nearly as bad as WoW where everyone had a dps meter and if you were the lowest you were booted. I loved playing mmos since ffxi but if this is how they are all turning out I can't see myself playing them much longer.

    People on the internet suck.

I don't know. MMORPG's used to be fun. Granted the only experience I had was FFXI and sure there were some meanies, but nowhere close to this game. I hear people saying this behavior is common in other games nowadays like WoW or whatever, but I don't find it an excuse. You shouldn't be allowed to behave badly just because other people behave badly somewhere else too.
It's common in every MMO I've ever played. I played WoW the longest, though, and I found there to be many helpful, kind people - at least as many kind and friendly people as there were jerks. Again, it's the internet, and anywhere there are a lot of people with the expectation of anonymity, you're going to find people who are ridiculous jerks and asshats.

I'm scared of entering a dungeon the first time. Sure I watch videos, even though mind you I shouldn't have to. Ridiculous people actually bully you into doing that. Sure I could run with the FC but it's just not that large. I think hardly any FC on my server is large.
I'm not sure why this is. TBH, I've never had a 4 man dungeon where people were verbally abusing each other except for one single time while leveling Arcanist with a particularly abusive Arcanist in the group who insisted on using his tank pet and verbally abusing the tank for not holding threat. That said, even the bad dungeons I've been in, I haven't really seen people be mean to each other. If you're that concerned, I recommend watching a video on each dungeon before going in. That way, you will know the fights ahead of time and you shouldn't have any issues.

I haven't entered Garuda Extreme yet. I'm just too scared of people. I am absolutely sure there's some move I won't dodge. Then the verbal abuse starts.
Then don't. Go with your Free Company. If you don't have a Free Company, find one. If your Free Company doesn't do PvE, then find one that will. Or network with a group of friends.

I did the Crystal Tower thing once. It was horrible. Not the dungeon that is. The people.
Yeah, Crystal Tower is a cesspit. I have stopped queuing for it as a result - I'm so sick of the people in there. They make the place god awful.

I dared to enter Bahamut's Coil once. I didn't do well, was yelled at. Never going to enter it again.

I wish someone was nice.. even once. Real life is horrible enough.. why do I pay for a game to get insulted? Grow a thicker skin you say maybe? Been bullied enough in my life to just not make that possible. Thought I could escape it here. Maybe I can't.
There are lots of nice people in the game. I'm sorry that your experience has been so bad. If your server is that awful, I recommend transferring to another one. I know Balmung is a pretty great place and I haven't had issues with the groups I've worked with here.

I think you are correct in this. Player attitude/behavior in WoW went downhill with cross-server parties - because there was no penalty for abusive behavior. When Blizzard started implementing actual penalties for being kicked (i.e. you get a debuff that won't let you re-queue for a dungeon), making sure that kicked people didn't re-queue into the party that kicked them, and allowing people to blacklist and report people cross-server, things improved immensely. In WoW, if you Blacklist someone, you will never be queued randomly into a dungeon with them. Ever. It's something that needs to be done here, imo.

    I totally understand this feeling.

When EX primals were released, I was a couple days late to the party due to work obligations. By the time I was able to sink my teeth in, many folks on my server had already or were close to clearing titan. By the time I was able to get a few practice parties in, I felt I was ready to go for the win, so I entered with a pre-made containing many folks from one of my linkshells. I knew that they were kind of elitest but we had played together before and we were all in the same shell.

I knew the fight but I didn't know it carnally like I do now. I made the mistake of being just in range of a bomb explosion and ended up losing enough health that I was killed by the next mechanic. Thats when the insane trolling began.

    By ls members.

    After 1 death.

I was rattled, and ended up dying again. Instead of dealing with the trolling, I just left. Wasn't worth it.

Now I clear titan whenever I want. I know the fight inside and out. Not only when to dodge, but how to maximize my damage around his mechanics. And anytime I see anyone from that group bitching about having a bad time in a party, I have a good laugh to myself.

Hang in there man. Make a /blacklist macro if you have to. Just blist the jerks and keep on truckin. You will win these fights. You will progress. And you will feel like the most powerful bag of animated pixels when you are victorious.

I played FFXI, and saw just as many toxic people as here, so people stop needing to use that as a reason.

I keep seeing people say this, but i've yet to run into it, at all. The worst people have been those wanting to speed run the story mode DR. CT i see people not speaking up if they don't know the fight, and causing wipes, but not the cesspit descriptions people are saying, or even the trolling. Almost every run i've done has just been smooth, couple with wipes, but not the toxic attitudes or trolling i've read so much about. Had a bugged boss once, but that's all.

I don't really mind running dungeons, they are pretty forgiving even when you have someone that either doesn't know what they are doing yet or is having a (very) bad day. I ran both the 8-man story dungeons without reading a guide with people that never explained what was going on. My main is a whm though, so my job is pretty simple - heal people and don't stand in the fire... I've had my share of DPS that don't target the same enemy as the tank or tanks that forget they have defensive cooldowns - either case makes my life more hectic. Most people if you suggest nicely are happy to adjust what they are doing.

Some people just take games way too seriously. This game is not hard, and with the exception of Titan where lag kills you, the mechanics are rather straightforward. After a few times experiencing the stages of the fight, you pretty much know what to expect. The only people that deserve to claim any type of elite status are the people that created the strategies in the first place. Everyone else is just copying someone else - not hard to do.

Anyway, I'm on Goblin as well. If you ever need someone to heal for you, send a tell to Vin Fyrerun. I'm happy to help you with whatever you need.

Ugh, Recount. One of the main reasons i pretty much stopped playing WoW. People being jerks posting them in chat if they felt others weren't doing as good as they wanted, even in holiday and leveling dungeons, which is pretty much stupid. I've had one CT run where at the end one guy went off about a warrior doing near top dps, even though the parser seems to have trouble with pets and dots. I don't care if people use them to help themselves, but if they use them to harass others, then i have no time for them.

True story, people seem to come on to be jackasses and play internet tough guy in DF. I actually thought XIV would be better then XI in regard to the raging. A death in XI had serious penaltys and could make you lose a level, and death in XIV is a minor inconvienience yet people act like you just slapped their mother if something goes wrong. I love Crystal Tower, but absolutely hate the people in it.
