Is anyone else scared of dungeons or trying to progress?

Recently I created a new character in another server.

Honesly, I first did it because I thought it would be easy to make the same gil I had on my char and buy a house.

Then, mere hours after I created it I was invited to a free company. It was advertised as casual friendly and the majority of it's members were nowhere close to lvl 50 with their main class. At first i saw the FC as a simple way to get faster into dungeons and a constant exp buff, then, as I progressed along the new players i realized something.

I was having fun.

We died about 4 times in the last fight of Haukke manor (easy mode) but we were having fun, they tried to discover the mecanics by themselves and asked me to just give them a hint after the 3rd death.

We laughed, we cursed, we failed and in the end we succeeded. Noone blamed the DPS for not turning off all the lamps, noone blamed the tank for not being able to hold all the adds, we just did it and had fun while at it and, honestly, I cant remember the last time I've had fun doing high lvl dungeons, coil or primals.
I'm not saying that every Garuda EX try has to be filled with laughter and companionship but think about it, when was the last time you actually had fun?, not because you got the loot or killed the boss, but because you enjoyed doing the dungeon.

In Sargatanas it's all about success, noone cares about the content, we all just care about the reward and I include myself in that "we" because I did the same.

If anyone thinks the FFXI comunity was not elitist then he or she has not been anywhere near ffxi.

a shame you were bullied irl but some of this end game is not meant for everybody.
you have to understand not everybody will want to be care bear mode and wipe 50 times because of one person (yes for now at least one person will make or break some of these fights). there is quite a bit of pressure to perform there

heck my fc is very friendly and ive had 2 tanks already break down and give up on garuda ex "lol screw this crap im not doing this lol", and there was no rage flung their way for that.

Lets be real people. MMO's are designed for people who play 24/7 which means there will be tons of players better then you. I don't see why these players who play any where from 6-10 plus hours every single day need to cater to others who don't play as much. Quit caring what other players do or act like. This is a game not a real life job situation or some shit. A random dude wants to be an elitist who gives a rats behind. Move on with your life after interacting with this person(s). The amount of cry baby post about people being mean is really upsetting me as a citizen of the world I want to do my part and take everyone aside and say "hey its just words over the internet things will be okay I still care about you"

I'd probably be sick of this game if I play 6,7 hours and up everyday. Granted a player's pace is their own choice... I just prefer doing things in moderation. But I have to disagree, playing a game at longer hours does not necessarily make one a better player than another.

True, it's not real life but real people are behind these usernames. They're not some no name Npc AI. That said, you do have a point about not taking what other people say to a personal level. Yet it's easier said than done. Everyone has a different breaking point.

Not caring is probably why the problem exists and is being tolerated as a norm.

SE needs to make a elitist only server and never let them duty find with other worlds. Problem solved. They wouldn't xfer cause they wouldn't want to play with "noobs". Win-Win to me.
I used to play on a HalfLife server back in the dial-up days and people got booted, suspended, banned regularly for bad behavior. I got suspended once and it taught me a good lesson in humility and patience.

Theres no accountability for behavior in this game. No consequences. Theres lots of public places that won't let you come back if you act like a d-bag. Why can't a MMO have the same rules? .

Lack of consequence is only going to make people more unaccountable for they're behavior and the trend will perpetuate further.

While i would like to be in an elitist world it isnt needed, you have a great tool called Party Finder. Also you can join a FC that fits with your playstyle. If you arent exp dont join a exp party, just join a learning party. Duty finder is a bit random so you can expect everything xD

I'm more afraid to progress because I'm milking everything there is to do before end game. I read about all these people who are bored and sick of the game at end game level and I don't want to be that way. Currently, I have so many game goals it's almost staggering. Also, I read all these threads about mean people but I can only recall two duty finder groups I've had in game thus far where people's behavior was unacceptable. Everyone else has been pretty darned decent to me. My experiences cannot account for all, but I do believe there are plenty of great folk left in the game.
