I really don't miss Tanaka at all..does that make me a bad person? >.>this is the type of ignorance that hinders a game. if someone voices any opposition to anything the game is they are told to leave and they will not be missed, but i do have news for you. they are missed. that's why tanaka is gone, yoshi is here, and they are having to merge servers. those people left and now they are missed.
no. i know there are people that don't miss tanaka. each person is entitled to their own opinion. you are not a bad person in any single way for not having the same opinion i have. i wish he would have been able to finish the game instead of the half done release we got, but that doesn't make anyone else wrong for not wanting the same.
what i am saying is if the people had not left in the mass exodus late last year then he would still be here. if he was still here yoshi would not be here. if those people were still here the servers would still be full so there would be no need for server merges.
all i am saying is that telling anyone else to leave and they will not be missed is incorrect since the game is dead and servers are having to be merged. those people did leave and they are badly missed.

LOL, it was joke, buddy. I really hate Tanaka, but I do agree with you in regards people being missed when they are gone. But I think we have derrailed the topic a little bit already![]()
I think 2.0 is their chance to go all out. IF they relase a good quality 2.0 they need to let loose the dogs of advertisement war. Relaunch the advertisement of the game especially in North America where there frankly wasnt any, open the game up to playstation 3 and give the game a second chance at life. There is still potential in this game and they are headed in the right direction so far.
This game still has a long way to go. I think it's a mistake to start charging for a game that doesn't even have enough content to keep you entertained. People are now saying wait til 2.0. I honestly don't know how to support this game anymore. It failed in every sense of the word.
From my observations, many of them (not all, but many) haven't even made any significant progress ingame doesn't matter how long ago they started. They even criticize content they can't possibly have any first-hand experience doing.
Therefore, I have two conclusions about these people:
1: They are irredeemable haters who are only interested in trolling at this point, they just want to ruin the game for others for thier own amusement, and won't be staying after 1/6. Thier passing should not be mourned or even given a second thought, my worst regards to them.
2: They are sincere in thier criticism, but are born pessemists, nothing you, me, or anyone else could say will ever convince them that this game has improved or is worth playing. Some will probably stay on after subscriptions start, but will not stay very long as they are incapable of ever seeing anything good in this game. These ppl should be pitied.
I agree, I've met people who won't give the game a chance simply because they have heard the bad reviews on launch, and word-of-mouth advertising only goes so far.I think 2.0 is their chance to go all out.
This game will boom when it hits ps3. There has to be a pretty nice demand for MMOs on consoles. I know I liked the idea of being able to play DC universe on ps3 even though it isn't my kind of MMO. Would have never stopped playing FF11 on 360 if it didn't catch on fire. Cannot wait till FF14 is on my ps3.
I am optimistic, not really for 1.x but for 2.0. I will be very disappointed if 2.0 does not completely blow us all away.
So I am optimistic, but prepared to be disappointed.
I'm a (medically) retired IT consultant. After working in the field for over 22 years, I have two opinions. One of the original development team and it's leadership and one of the current development team and it's leadership. The only thing I'll say about the original group here is that they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves after working on this game for as many years as they did!
Now, on to the new development team, it's leadership and the state of the game as it stands and it's direction. I will say right now that I am 100% optimistic regarding this game. Yoshi and new team have been performing wonderfully. They are doing something that has never been done before (as far as I'm aware). They are taking an absolute failure and turning it around into a complete success.
When the game first released, I was in utter disbelief at what I found. My first thoughts were "What in the hell has this development team been doing with it's time for the last four to five years?". They sure as hell couldn't have been working very damn hard! I kept playing anyway (most of the time, in utter frustration).
Finally they announced the restructuring of the development team. When I found out who had been put in charge, I did a bit of research and learned what his past accomplishments were. I was impressed. Straight away, I told my wife (who also is an avid player), "They will begin rewriting this game from the ground up, to include the engine, while continuing to update this nightmare on a regular basis.". She thought I was nuts. Sure enough, that's what is happening. I knew that there was nothing short of a rewrite that could redeem the catastrophic failure that we had on our hands.
Now, this kind of stuff takes time. Developing an MMORPG from the ground up in 2 years is nothing short of awesome (if they are successful, which I believe they will be). At the same time they have been providing fairly decent updates. I become more impressed with each update. Sure, they make mistakes and bugs pop up here and there, but they are coding at blinding speed. I'm actually amazed that there aren't more bugs than we've seen.
It's a bit disappointing that we have to actually play the game between patch 1.20 and 1.21 with the class changes already made but still waiting for the jobs. I would have rather waited the extra 2 months to see both enter the scene at the same time. Game play would have been more enjoyable both now and then, but hey, we'll live and the show will go on.
Anyway, I've already written too much. I'm very, very optimistic and encourage SE not to ever abandon this project because I truly believe it's headed in the right direction. As hard as it's going to be to recover the "Final Fantasy" brand and as hard as it will be to recapture the trust of the players, it is entirely possible and probable that they will succeed if they just don't give up.
I would encourage those people who are still playing, to keep playing. If for no other reason, than just to get yourself way ahead of everyone else who will be flooding back to play when 2.0 is launched. I think, once we see the introduction of jobs in the next couple months, that the game will really begin to take off. Once the 2.0 client is redistributed and we load it up for the first time, I totally believe we'll all be blown away.
This dev team is not the team that ruined the game, brand name and company reputation, but it is the team that will restore all that has been lost. The community will see.
