Optimism...
Only read the OP so far, but I do agree in general that the forums have been pessimistic or at least, give the impression of pessimism. And every once in a while, a thread of light needs to pierce through the darkness, and distribute mad justice and passion to our hearts! Love and peace!
Let me read this thread before posting any further har har!
Edit: Apparently I skipped two paragraphs reading the OP, oh boi. Not only that, I finally noticed the dates were in June?! I've been talking to ZOMBIES!!!

my optimism died at 1.18 and seeing more and more friends leaving the game. if it weren't for the friends i have still playing the game i would have been gone long ago.

I've been pretty optimistic about this game from the start. It might be because it's my first MMO and I want to enjoy it the best I can. And hearing about all the 2.0 stuff makes me so excited!!!
I'm kinda like everyone else though, in that I often don't have time to play, or get addicted to different games for awhile, etc. But I always find myself coming back to FFXIV. I have fun just seeing the changes over time
I admit most, if not all my original FFXIV friends seem to never play anymore (or they're on when I'm not on, or something). But that won't stop me from playing...it's their loss imo.
lol Azurymber and optimistic Doesn't mix...and I'm shocked people are still playing this game... Not being a hazama or anything... but this game is light years behind games like hmmm..... WoW & SWTOR...
Sorry SE Fans... But my words are the truth.
No, your words are opinion. You must be new to english.
Nah son it's the truth... Tell me why else would they be remaking this game for the PS3 Version... I mean Come on dude... get that stick out of your azz hahahahaha!!!! SE Fans... always right about everything I guess... Where's the 1 million playerbase mark for this game? Oooh that's right... Launch didn't run as smooth as they had planned...
Nope, he's right. It's behind. I'm almost postive WoW, SW, Rift, and God knows what other MMO's are out there, that they started out with at least a working central market and a way to search for groups when they were first released... unlike a certian game I know...just those two components alone puts a game light years behind the others...it took what...how many monthes to get the MW to function somewhat like a central market? And how long again to get a search feature in? And those are only two minor issues this game had a release compared to others...those are just facts.

while i don't really agree with op i will say this game still has me hoping for 2.0, i think this game can still be great, with it's great story line and exp'ing. and all the new things they will add by 2.0 all will be great. even though i know nothing more about it i have a pitched tent for crystal towers that will not go away till i learn more of it. but that is cause ffxi paints my pictures for me and i'm hoping it will be as great as any of the full linkshell large pve endgames it had.
but my hopes can easily be vanquished in a second at 2.0. lots of things need to be fixed. and on top of those lets hope the most important one is fixable, the games community and population. you can fix everything and still game can suck if no one to play with. but i have hopes that all will come back just as i will and end up staying. but we will have to just see if SE fixes what needs to be fixed in the right directions.
as for swtor, though i'm enjoying playing it very much. but i'm already spacebar'ing threw the voice dialogues rather then watching them or reading them. don't get me wrong i would rather have voice on my quests but it's something about mmo's that i just want to keep moving lot faster then in offline games where i'd read and watch everything and take my time or maybe it's cause i'm not a star wars fan. (not like they are full movie animations, it's usually 2npc's with some movements ...though swtor has done it the best i've seen in any game, would of loved this for ffxiv) best thing for me in this game is population of players and never ending line of quests and content to play. so much that you start to level past some of then b4 doing them unless you just stop and go threw them all. but i think anyone that left for that game will still be back for 2.0.
also on the ps3 thing, they probably preparing for success and failure at same time. i am picturing this game go free to play on ps3 like DCU with like 1 server lol. that is if fails. ps3 launch will be the time for game to meet it's makers but ps3 players themselves aren't the saviors ..it's the hope of all coming back and liking what they see. but by the time 2.0 launches we will probably have a feeling as to how much we would enjoy it or not already.
to devs: optimism only takes you so far. lets hope at 2.0 the content does all the talking cause promises and talk has already been used up by a long shot.

Mmh... I'm mostly optimistic.
But as I said before, I used to be a lot more optimistic.
The original development goals for the game - even if things did go terribly wrong - were much closer to (though still a very, very long way off) my 'dream MMO' than Yoshida's new v2.0 would be. So my old excitement is really interfering with the new.
That said, I do at least know v2.0 is a game I'd be terribly excited for were I otherwise ignorant, so.. yes, I'm definitely optimistic.
... Oh hey it's an old thread o.o Oh well, nice'n.
