I am optimistic!! I also don't like to hear all this pessimism, especially when it's about silly things like a button in the wrong place, or some junk. Also when people seem to be negative just for the sake of having something to complain about, that bugs me.

Makes me wonder if people even take the time to admire what a beautiful job SE has done on the scenery and graphics in general. Like the huge trees in Grid. The HUUGE ones!!! Those trees are like, bigger than ma'f***in REDWOODS. And that one random tree that pulsates when you run by it- cool!! I could run around for a week and still probably find cool stuff that I haven't seen before. I really do enjoy XIV and am excited AND optimistic for what they've got planned.

And plus, these people live in one of the hardest working countries in the world, workin their asses off after their country just got tsunami'd and radiated, while we're sittin in our damn chairs complaining it's not getting done fast enough. Well I'm not gonna complain about their game, I'm gonna shut the f*** up and enjoy it.

First, the zones are amazing and beautiful.
I think they are rather empty and generic.

and the game feels incredibly realistic.
Do not want realistic, i want a FF title.

The whole idea of having giant zones that look the same almost everywhere is awesome because thats what real life is like!
If i want RL i dont play MMO. Giant zones are great but not if there is nothing at all to see and elements keep repeating over and over.

Next, the lore in this game is really awesome.
you mean the lore and articles you read on lodestone? i would rather like to have a great story ingame.
And no matter how nice the lore, if the player is not connected to the events, it is pointless.

I mean you already have pirates, moogles, time travel stuff, and dragons.
No we don't, you only see the moogles in some cut-scenes a couple times.

I'm really looking forward to when there are time travilingish dragon parts.
i would rather have dragons in-game

Like i really want to know why Ishgard fought with Gridania a bunch of times,
    i could not care less

Next, you can essentially be a pirate (mrd), and everyone knows pirates are way cooler than ninjas.
    What are you talking about?

Like the weapons and battle system in general is awesome.
i think it was boring at best

And lastly i think crafting and gathering are really well done with really awesome minigames for them. I can't see how anyone could ever get bored of them.
    You are trolling right???????

And parley is also a really epic game.
    you are kidding me right

Look the only thing that can kill this game now is the players. The new dev team is basically starting over and it's a tough thing to do. If you love an MMO never play it on the first year... or in this case first two years.

It'll be good. Keep training and dont burn out.

I remain very very optimistic, I mean it is Square and they been making games I like for many years. And they made the only mmo besides EQ that I really liked enough to play for more then 4-5 months at a time.

I would be far less optimistic if they where some no name garbage company that failed the first big thing they tried to produce. Or if their other ff mmo wasn't one of the worlds longest lived and highly successful mmos. They proved they have the ability to make a good mmo to me.

What I see is an unfinished product, a game that needed 1-2 years more development. But I see a greater potential in this game then I see in many of the other mmos out there atm, that potential is just going to take along time to be realized.

SE is a monster of a game company with enough funds to actually do the drastic revamps needed. Atm Wada made it a main goal of the new fiscal year to revive the game and the major changes that Yoshida was brought in to do, and all their work the last 3-4 months is being released soon. If you are not at least somewhat optimistic or at the very least hoping it will turn out to be great... you should probably just leave the game for good.

I am giving SE until ps3 release, if the game fails that release... whether I like it or not I will have to leave at that point.

They need to redo the field zones layout. Less copy and paste of huge parts of the game.

Nah, it's called an optimist who isn't overly outwardly enthusiastic.

I believe Yoshi-P can get the job done. I have just stopped logging in til the changes are made.

    The parley game, yes. Epic.
    It's like, so unique.
You run up to a bunch of enraged boss-monsters, and right in the moment their axe is about to split your head, you mutter: "Parley!". Works in the movies.
And since it's not even remotely luck-based, it fully immerses you with intellectual challenge.

two. why would you play a game you don't like? thats just silly.
Probably because they are waiting for something decent to happen because they are being optimistic.
To the Op... I have no reason to be Optimistic untill SE gives me a reason to be, this game has been one dissapointing chain of events after the next.

The continuing downward spiral of the player base is also a concern of mine. Even if they fix things one by 1. How long can SE continue flushing money into a project that is doing nothing but losing them cash everyday they are not charging monthly subscription fees? They have to cut their losses sooner or later.
