Who is really optimistic about this game?

I've seen so many pessimistic posts in all the threads lately I thought I would make an optimistic post :]

I think there are -lots- of reasons to be -very- optimistic about this game.
First, the zones are amazing and beautiful. The graphics and attention to detail are insane, and the game feels incredibly realistic. The whole idea of having giant zones that look the same almost everywhere is awesome because thats what real life is like!

Next, the lore in this game is really awesome. I mean you already have pirates, moogles, time travel stuff, and dragons. I'm really looking forward to when there are time travilingish dragon parts. Like i really want to know why Ishgard fought with Gridania a bunch of times, and I can't wait to know more about the Garlean empire and where they came from. So far the quests in the game are really amazing and aside from the fact that its obvious that whoever programmed some of them were drunk (ex. a mob running in random circles instead of attacking you), they are some of the best quests lore-wise in any game.

Next, you can essentially be a pirate (mrd), and everyone knows pirates are way cooler than ninjas. That alone makes this an epic game. Not only that but you can be a miner too!!! I just think its kinda cool to be able to switch between fighting, mining, and crafting so easily. Like the weapons and battle system in general is awesome.

And lastly i think crafting and gathering are really well done with really awesome minigames for them. I can't see how anyone could ever get bored of them. They are really a lot of fun. And parley is also a really epic game. I'm kinda hoping they release an official online parley game so i can play against other people.

And for the future, we might be getting really cool stuff like more retainers, 2 dungeons, maybe even jump!. And all this really cool mysterious lore must be leading up to something epic!!! I really think this game is going to do amazingly well, and I can't wait for all the new awesome content coming in the next year.

So share your optimism :] and lets drown out all those pessimistic people!

I've been optimistic about this game as well as pessimistic as well. This game let me down but it also gave me hope. I see the potential there and I look forward to where this journey may lead. I'm also glad that SE isn't forgetting solo players in their changes, grouping is fun but forced grouping for everything sucks.

So after some posts here and there, I've came into a conclusion that people don't know what they really want. So I'm just gonna read the Dev posts and stay silent about any feature of the game.

Like I said, I'll take it as a gamer. Can be good, can be a little tingly. Then I spread my idea on that with my friends drinking beer from our 7.5dl mug.
If I have to wait, I have enough patience to wait 1 year before they release new content.
So yeah, I'll be optimistic at the very end

Alot of us that have multiple 50 classes and not much to do in the game are finding it hard to be optimistic.

I guess I just expected so much more from this game.

I don't think it really matters what the tiny minority feel at this point. You have played a shitty game through multiple times and nobody forced you to. Maybe you should have thought about it a bit more than you did.

When I play the game and ignore the forums, I'm perfectly happy. I only come here because I want to make sure my voice is added, and so I don't get caught by surprise like I did with Cataclysm.

Like you, I absolutely love the landscaping and maps, even the Black Shroud. It was daunting at first, but as I started exploring, my imagination got the better of me and I imagined myself something like Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest. The twists and turns are an explorer's paradise.

The story is my favorite part of FF games. It's fun to get to be an interactive part of the story. The quests are a little different, which is a lot of fun. I love the updates of lore they post on the lodestone, and they last one they put up was really neat. Even better was seeing some of the stories peole post on their blogs. If only I had an imagination that went that far! Writing has never been my best strongsuit.

When it comes to the classes, I've only tried a few of them, but I have liked them a lot. At first, I wasn't that impressed with some of the skills (I started with Gladiator), but after a while it began to remind me of old FF games, and I liked that. I know they are changing it, and I might actually be sorry to see some of it go, but it's for the greater good of the game, and who knows, I might like the new style even better lol. I'm sure I will.

The one class I'm hoping they really don't change too much is conjurer. I feel like Aeris playing that class, my favorite FF character. I really love it.

I really like mining and botany. The mini games of those is really fun. I like things that take timing. The crafting class game.... ehhh... I think the crafting being a lot more important in this game is really great, and I like that it has a mini game. I wish they could come up with different mini games for all of them, but that would be a lot of games. I really don't think the developers intended for us to concentrate on more than 1 or 2 at a time though.

All in all, I think this game offers a lot to the imagination. It is a Role Playing game after all. I do think it needs a lot more content, and I know that will take time, but yes, I am optimistic about it. The best things in life never come fast.
