I'm not very optimistic about the games prospects. I am hopeful that maybe it can be a decent game, on par with how good I thought FFXI was maybe. But definately not even better, and not as good as some of the new MMOs coming out in certain aspects.

After reading through these posts i have deemed that this is a very good act of masked sarcasm. Props to you my friend you were very believable in your deliverance. The 2 parts that gave it away for me were the pirates vs ninjas thing and the wanting to parley against people online haha well played sir.
as for my 2 cents, i dont know if it is pessimism or optimism in Se thats caused me to just spend my time playing the FF rpgs on the psp more then 14. Atleast i have brand loyalty haha.
Can't tell if being trolled or not.
However, I won't travel off topic. Today was the first time in a while I worked myself into an optimistic mindset. I'll share with you how I got there. I was thinking in my head back on 1.17. Which came out 2 months and a few days ago. With 1.17 came a drastic change in the game. It became better. Noticabley better. 2 months since we have seen 1.17a,b,c which were all just bug fixes which most of us overlooked. But... 1.18 is coming in less then 2 weeks now. And it's the biggest patch to date; content-wise. I think a little bit more then just 2 dungeons and auto attack will be arriving in 2 weeks. Not saying it's going to be orgasmic and an answer to our prayers. But it will bring what 1.17 did to the game for a short while; life.
From my stand point and a lot of pessimists (sp?) is... once we clear these dungeons, what then? Back to the same tedious stuff we've been doing for the last 9 months. For another 2 months and a few days til 1.19? We'll be 1 year older since the days we played the beta.
Anyways... I won't stress myself out over a video game.

I'm optimistic hoping this game improves still play ever so often just waiting now for 1.18 and see if anything really changed. So I still kinda new to the game just curious they way people bash each other on these forums is this a reflection of the community while playing in game?

Everyone I have met has been very nice. The chats are pretty quiet, which bothers some people, but all the people I have interacted with has been helpful and courteous.I'm optimistic hoping this game improves still play ever so often just waiting now for 1.18 and see if anything really changed. it will eventually get there. 11 was fun and it was very bland looking. once 14 gets it right it'll be the best mmo cuz it will have gameplay and graphics to go with it. I think this game is still a Beta even though its been released. and yeah they should implement some of 11's game play. The only things that bother me at the moment are some of the battle music. guitar is cool But it dosent go with this game, and the levels really bug me. cuz when you try to explore you see the same thing over and over. why run for 10 mins when you know your gonna see the same thing.. But they know that already so im just playing the waiting game right now. hurryap SE ..
I am optimistic!! I also don't like to hear all this pessimism, especially when it's about silly things like a button in the wrong place, or some junk. Also when people seem to be negative just for the sake of having something to complain about, that bugs me.
Makes me wonder if people even take the time to admire what a beautiful job SE has done on the scenery and graphics in general. Like the huge trees in Grid. The HUUGE ones!!! Those trees are like, bigger than ma'f***in REDWOODS. And that one random tree that pulsates when you run by it- cool!! I could run around for a week and still probably find cool stuff that I haven't seen before. I really do enjoy XIV and am excited AND optimistic for what they've got planned.
And plus, these people live in one of the hardest working countries in the world, workin their asses off after their country just got tsunami'd and radiated, while we're sittin in our damn chairs complaining it's not getting done fast enough. Well I'm not gonna complain about their game, I'm gonna shut the f*** up and enjoy it.

First, the zones are amazing and beautiful.
I think they are rather empty and generic.
and the game feels incredibly realistic.
Do not want realistic, i want a FF title.
The whole idea of having giant zones that look the same almost everywhere is awesome because thats what real life is like!
If i want RL i dont play MMO. Giant zones are great but not if there is nothing at all to see and elements keep repeating over and over.
Next, the lore in this game is really awesome.
you mean the lore and articles you read on lodestone? i would rather like to have a great story ingame.
And no matter how nice the lore, if the player is not connected to the events, it is pointless.
I mean you already have pirates, moogles, time travel stuff, and dragons.
No we don't, you only see the moogles in some cut-scenes a couple times.
I'm really looking forward to when there are time travilingish dragon parts.
i would rather have dragons in-game
Like i really want to know why Ishgard fought with Gridania a bunch of times,
i could not care less
Next, you can essentially be a pirate (mrd), and everyone knows pirates are way cooler than ninjas.
What are you talking about?
Like the weapons and battle system in general is awesome.
i think it was boring at best
And lastly i think crafting and gathering are really well done with really awesome minigames for them. I can't see how anyone could ever get bored of them.
You are trolling right???????
And parley is also a really epic game.
you are kidding me right

I remain very very optimistic, I mean it is Square and they been making games I like for many years. And they made the only mmo besides EQ that I really liked enough to play for more then 4-5 months at a time.
I would be far less optimistic if they where some no name garbage company that failed the first big thing they tried to produce. Or if their other ff mmo wasn't one of the worlds longest lived and highly successful mmos. They proved they have the ability to make a good mmo to me.
What I see is an unfinished product, a game that needed 1-2 years more development. But I see a greater potential in this game then I see in many of the other mmos out there atm, that potential is just going to take along time to be realized.
SE is a monster of a game company with enough funds to actually do the drastic revamps needed. Atm Wada made it a main goal of the new fiscal year to revive the game and the major changes that Yoshida was brought in to do, and all their work the last 3-4 months is being released soon. If you are not at least somewhat optimistic or at the very least hoping it will turn out to be great... you should probably just leave the game for good.
I am giving SE until ps3 release, if the game fails that release... whether I like it or not I will have to leave at that point.

They need to redo the field zones layout. Less copy and paste of huge parts of the game.
