Who is really optimistic about this game?

I've seen so many pessimistic posts in all the threads lately I thought I would make an optimistic post :]

I think there are -lots- of reasons to be -very- optimistic about this game.
First, the zones are amazing and beautiful. The graphics and attention to detail are insane, and the game feels incredibly realistic. The whole idea of having giant zones that look the same almost everywhere is awesome because thats what real life is like!

Next, the lore in this game is really awesome. I mean you already have pirates, moogles, time travel stuff, and dragons. I'm really looking forward to when there are time travilingish dragon parts. Like i really want to know why Ishgard fought with Gridania a bunch of times, and I can't wait to know more about the Garlean empire and where they came from. So far the quests in the game are really amazing and aside from the fact that its obvious that whoever programmed some of them were drunk (ex. a mob running in random circles instead of attacking you), they are some of the best quests lore-wise in any game.

Next, you can essentially be a pirate (mrd), and everyone knows pirates are way cooler than ninjas. That alone makes this an epic game. Not only that but you can be a miner too!!! I just think its kinda cool to be able to switch between fighting, mining, and crafting so easily. Like the weapons and battle system in general is awesome.

And lastly i think crafting and gathering are really well done with really awesome minigames for them. I can't see how anyone could ever get bored of them. They are really a lot of fun. And parley is also a really epic game. I'm kinda hoping they release an official online parley game so i can play against other people.

And for the future, we might be getting really cool stuff like more retainers, 2 dungeons, maybe even jump!. And all this really cool mysterious lore must be leading up to something epic!!! I really think this game is going to do amazingly well, and I can't wait for all the new awesome content coming in the next year.

So share your optimism :] and lets drown out all those pessimistic people!

Unfortunately I don't think the outcome of this thread is going to be very pleasant.

Having said that, I personally haven't played in a few months due to time constraints from work and school, but my friends and I eagerly await not only the day we all have free time and copies of the game (one or two still haven't purchased), but the upcoming updates and fixes that will put this game on the road to being what I know it has the potential to become.

    I'm optimistic.

I played FFXI from the beginning..and I can hope in the same evolution (personally I hope not like TOAU and over XD, that sometimes destry party tactics).

But actually FFXIV make me happy, and this is all...

I fully agree and I have been optimistic since alpha testing that SE would have what it takes to turn FFXIV around and make it into the fully fledged, fully featured, next gen MMO it was supposed to be.

However I am getting to a point where my faith in SE is wavering. I went from alpha telling myself beta will be better. Beta came and it was better but still not ready. I told myself they would have a huge patch ready for launch that would solve all this. CE launch came, I told myself the patch would come the week after when the game went full retail. It didn't come, I told myself they would get on top of it and get it sorted quickly, promises from the Dev team were made. Those promises were not delivered and a Dev team reshuffle happened. Finally I thought here we go, so far though not a lot has changed.

Then there is the limited info we are being given about the new systems. 1 Class to 1 Job and things like that and I am beginning to slide in the other direction. There is no doubt that getting FFXIV on track is going to require a huge effort but how long is it really going to take to get there? A few more months maybe even a year who knows.

Hopefully they are waiting for the battle system and once that is in they can start getting stuff in at a much more rapid rate than what we are getting now.

It's easy to be optimistic when you haven't seen what the developers have been working on, and the small updates have been generally positive.

So until then, I'll stay generally optimistic.

I'm not optimistic. To be honest, I'd rather play WoW than FFXIV at the moment. And I don't enjoy WoW.

I think that anyone who's actually sticking around right now is optimistic for the game's future. Otherwise, why not just play another game or go outside or something?

I'm trying to be but sometimes it feels like I'm having to convince myself too much for it to be genuine optimism. I'm really hoping 1.18 refreshes that optimism or at least the patches become faster and more worthwhile after 1.18 is put in place. So I'm kind of in a crossing-my-fingers-and-hoping optimism.
