Interesting Thaumaturge fact....

I just found out recently that a "Thaumaturge" is actually some kind of miracle working saint...
While a conjurer is a pagan witch....

The game kind of casts the thaums in more of a dark, shadowy, underworld kind of light (Or lack thereof), I thought it was weird....

Conjurer seems spot on for what you would expect given the name... but thaumaturge seems off to me....

not really, the game essentially paints them as field workers for their respective church, which is what actual thaumaturges really were. the healers in the bible were essentially thaumaturges.

well to be fair , ThM use his own blood for some spells (Blood rite , sacrifice....)

oh heck yeah the ones in the game are definitely gloomier, but only to us. you kinda have to see it through their eyes, perhaps its something standard and natural for their religion to do and so is there for not gloomy or doomy and just as sainty as painting glass.

Also, ff:xiv isn't the first final fantasy THM is mentioned in. The psp remake of ff:t, THM is mentioned in one of the ancient wonders, I've forgotten which one though.

Thaumaturgy is also used in FFXIII

Don't forget that everything is laced with undertones of thirst for wealth and power, and that minds became twisted and warped by the notion that anything can be done as the "Will of the Greater Power". Just like real life! THM is merely a modern day messiah, proclaiming Blood Rites, performing Sacrifices, and Shadowsearing a path of destruction all in the name of God! But hey, it's just a game, right? ^_^ :P

That's pretty deep, but true... There are probably more than a few corrupt saints in history....
Also games like Assassin's Creed cast the Roman Catholic church and the Pope in a very negative light

interesting that Conjurer's then have their guild in a dark gloomy tree cave of some sort, and thaumaturges have it in a shiny hall with roman pilars.

The do worship Nad'Thal.... The deity that represents balance between light and dark, death and the living....

Also, it is true that Thaums are one of the few places that actually talked about and lives their lives by a certain deity.... Other ones of the twelve are mentioned here and there, but none hold them in as high regard as the Thaumaturge guild holds Nald'thal

another interesting fact. with a r50 pug, a r50 thm, and a r47 arc which do you think i take out to farm? if it is so OP you would think that it would be the thm, but it is not because in certain fights it is great, but in others it is nowhere near as good. when going out to farm mats the much better choice is either the pug or arc over the thm.

So if a class's power is based off how good it is at farming materials, then I suppose Miner is the most OP class.

he meant farming mob ( e.g: for leatherwork )
and yes you are doing it wrong ( thought it easier to farm with pug sine we can't aoe // only red target drop items >.......< )

And what leather do you need in such abundance that one could solo for as a non-thaumaturge? 'cause anything you can solo as a Pugilist that has leather worth anything, a Thaumaturge could do it better.
