    In Age of Conan... least I think it was in AoC... or maybe Vanguard... probably Vanguard... so many MMOs ago, bosses would not drop class specific item, but rather, slot "molds".

    So for example, Turn 1 would drop say Head and Chest molds. Once you have a mold, you go to an NPC, and have the mold converted into the appropriate piece for your class.
    If we want to make things more interesting... or time consuming... Have it require a specific item, like Rad-At-Hanz's Quenching Oil for 900 Phil, and maybe some 1 star item from the crafting class that repairs this equipment.

    It is not exactly a token system, but it does solve the issue of 3 item sets being shared, and 3 being unique... and somehow dropping 2-3x as often as the shared ones.

    Yoshi P has already stated that Crafted gear will never be as good as items you can obtain via currency or dungeons.

    The funny thing is this game compromised between the two in a very nice way, and yet it's still not good enough for the gaming community.

    Im sorry but being almost able to craft the to the highest gear is ridiculous there will be no point in doing anything but coil if all the rest can be crafted making the rest obsolete

    It doesn't have to be a grind or poisonous. I mean, they've ripped WoW off pretty heavily thus far (which yes, I know, rips other games off) so why not take their raid loot system?

    In WoW, bosses do drop regular armor but they also drop tokens for your class armor. These tokens are not class specific, in fact they can be used by multiple classes.

    For example, you kill a particular boss and it drops a token that can be used by WAR/WHM/MNK, another token could be SMN/BRD/PLD while the final token could be SCH/DRG/BLM. These tokens are used for specific armor slots. All you do is get your head piece token for example off a boss and cash it in for your shiny new head piece. Pretty simple concept.

    With a system like this it would dramatically cut down on the number of items that are for the most part wasted every week. In my coil group it feels at times as if we are gearing our alts faster than our mains.

    Agree that crafting shouldn't lead to highest gear. Absolutely. However, I think it should at least be on par or similar to something 2nd or 3rd. Perhaps, via crafting, you can come up with similar main stats but unique secondary. Allow for crafting to be at least iLvl 80..
    It would give me a reason to pursue a craft or save up money to spend on the crafted gear. It didn't take long to hate CT. Given the option between 1-2 day craft grind or taking my chances in CT for a single drop, I would opt for craft grinding.

    I should've been raiding as dragoon or monk. Really sick of seeing their drops, at least make them share the same gear so everyone has equal chance of getting loot.

    It's just another means of a compromise between tokens and RNG. I tend to side WoW's loot system with the token system because it forces groups to prioritze who gets the tokens first. This creates issues within guilds playing favoritism with certain members and also leads to all kinds of crazy DKP point ideas that drive people insane. At the same time, the small RNG that is still in play for WoW can create a certain desperation for tokens if they don't drop consistently.

    I guess the token could break down into two categories (giving three total):
    -Token (currency) - Creates the grind atmosphere
    - Token (Trade in's) - Creates the priority atmosphere (sucks going into a dungeon knowing you have no chance at loot)
    - RNG - Religion atmosphere (Lady luck is not merciful)

    That all depends on who you go with. Even in that case, at least your group will (most likely) prioritize people who haven't gotten any items recently. In my coil group this week only one item dropped that a main actually needed, which was an Allagan Blade. Even the offspec items that dropped had to be freelotted because the people that had their offspecs set to those jobs already had the items that dropped. It's not like we're all decked out in all of our Allagan pieces either, I still need 4 pieces where as our DRG went 2 months without seeing one dragoon piece drop.

    I'll throw in my support, I am literally only subscribed right now in hopes I get a Twintania weapon drop for BLM and I have nothing else to look forward to.. that is really pathetic on my part and on the part of the game devs
