Coerthas...
The wind, the snow..landscape all perfect
Like many have stated they are lacking in actual danger and exploration. I know people might be burnt out on the time spent there but I think Qufim Island has actually great level design. The randomness of skeletons keep everyone alert and they are tied to the time of day. That made running for the book a strategic risk depending on when you did it. Also the tight passages were a bottleneck between 2 types of enemies. Not to mention the history of the area with a MASSIVE crag tower next to it. I have seen even the most hardened and experienced players completely lose their way in the labyrinthine corridors of the tower and getting guided through it in a party is one of my all time favourite gaming moments that I truly could NOT have ever done alone without their help.
XIV is visually really impressive though. I especially like how light affects the look of areas but level 45 areas feel exactly as dangerous as lvl 1 areas which is not dangerous at all.
Maybe they will give us real "zones" in the next expansion. Something to truly explore and not tiny tubes and paths through a small map.
QFT.
But choosing my favorite among what we have now?
I really like the Black Shroud, even the Central Shroud is overflowing with interesting things to see.
Turn 5 post clear! Nice view of Bahamut.
Actually I love housing area because of the BGM.
But I wish I'll see the day that all land are purchased..Maybe late Feb or so.
Btw, people still fond of FFXI and always compare to FFXIV. It's just another game so stop comparing it..please.
We know that FFXI give us fond memory but if I have to choose now, I'll never play FFXI again because every thing take time to do .. especially travel in those so-call big map.
ITT: people talking about how FFXI is better in x number of ways, barely staying on topic and not even listing a zone in XIV that they like. We get it, you loved that game, you hate this game...now stay on topic.
For me personally, I love a lot of the binding coil of bahamut, especially turn 5. The scope and design of that place is excellent and makes you feel very small.
I know it's not what the OP asked, but easily the worst zone has to be![]()
