How about a DPS-WAR ? Is it a great idea?

WAR DPS is fun to play with, I run around doing everything but serious content as ilvl 88 STR gear with 30 STR spec. Swap to VIT gear (still 30 STR) for actual tanking (Coil+). As OT /DPS WAR your rotation just cant have butcher's block. You WILL rip it off any tank with a enmity generating ability 1k+ crit even another WAR.

As a Pet Project, I say go for it. But if your really serious about tanking all End game Content including Coil, I wouldnt reccommend equipping to much DPS accessories. 6600 HP is pretty low for a WAR espcially if you want to complete turn 5.

Here's my reccommendations

- If your strapped with cash, invest in some crafted accessories (Grypho, Rose Gold )
- Build 2 Different Sets for WAR on your hotbar. 1 more focus on DPS, 1 Strictly for Tanking and switch between the 2 depending on the fight.
- If the idea of being really tanky with some dps capabilities is what really intrigues you, roll Marauder in PVP.

DPS off-tank build isn't too useful outside of CT in my opinion. Most fights either only require one tank or tank swapping, so DPS build isn't too practical.

All the HM primals just require one tank. It might be viable for Garuda EX, but Titan and Ifrit EX need tank swapping and if you use STR items, you will be too squishy.

T1 might be viable until the Snake split, T2 and T4 it probably won't be viable since you have to tank swap / tank adds. T5 maybe, but snakes hits hard.

Will be extremely fun for CT though.

Wouldn't it be more interesting if youre a DPS-MRD with Dual Haken? Raging Strikes, Straight Shot, Impulse Drive ++ ?

Tanking pre and post 2.1 with Gryphonskins. Don't seem to see a problem there. There hasn't been a content that requires more HP than what iLvl 90 + Gryphonskins can attain. Bar exception like if you want to solo tank EM Titan, you'd need all of them iLvl 90 and as much Vit as possible. Tried solo tanking EM Ifrit. Not possible...

Dps war is as easy as turning off Defiance. My current set up (str20/vit10) allows me to reach the 10k+ hp with Defiance + ToB + party bonus w/o food. Also if i get a melee I get the str bonus putting my str at 400. As soon as I get my last ilvl 90 ring I'll go full Str. I'm noticing a 50 point damage (str20) difference when off Defiance. It allows me to effectively be the OT without being to squishy. IMO as long as your hp can hit above 10k with buffs then you have more than enough into vit.

dps warrior is insane good, constant high numbers, 1k-800k crits. Don't worry about pulling off a tank cause you will be doing storms eye/bb combo back and forth so by the time you do storms eye, the tank will have a good lead again for a BB combo. Theres a video of a dps warrior.

Just wait for SE to give Marauder a DPS option called "Berserker". Then you can DPS all you want!
