Heh, I came into this thread expecting the total opposite of what it was actually about. I saw a thread about removing daily limits, and assumed it would be some hardcore basement-dweller whining about how they can't spend 16 hours a day every day hording tomes or somesuch, but it was actually a much more reasonable request: A guy's real-life obligations mean that he can only play a couple days per week, and that's hampering his ability to get through the Beast tribe quests.

I sympathize, as some of my good friends are players with young kids at home, full-time jobs, etc, who simply can't find those "15 minutes per day" that's supposedly so easy to achieve. I'm honestly not sure what benefit SE gets from encouraging players to log in for a few minutes every day instead of for a long time on specific days, but I guess there must be something.

It's also strange that folks are still assuming the OP is asking for more to be handed to him with less time investment. That is not the case. He is fully willing to spend exactly as much time doing the Beast Tribe quests as everyone else - he just wants to do it in single, long stretches once a week, rather than short, 15-minute segments every day.

Pages of not reading the OP as usual.

Not everyone can play every day of the week. They can still have the same or similar amount of hours. Dailies are poorly designed because you have to do it every day unlike leves. I just never bothered starting them after what WoW did. If they ever unlock actual content or gearing options I'll just unsub.

"Have to do it every day"?

I don't see any penalties if you don't. I even see people starting it really late, and goes on-off doing it.

The only thing I get at the end, is more rip-off than actual reward itself. Of course, you are welcome to skip those.

I would be completely fine with having everything on a weekly lock out instead of daily.

For the various roulettes, you'd have 7 bonuses you could use at any point during the week before being locked out until reset. The beast tribe quests could be repeated 7 times per week at any time, etc.

It's the same system with more options for players to choose from. The current system almost makes the game feel like a chore at times because your forced to log in virtually every day or miss out.

I could see the sense in making beastmen quests stack like leves, because it doesn't change much for the casual vs. hardcore player. Everyone gets the same amount of kicks at the can.

But roulette is there specifically to help people that need to get through dungeons. Your reward for helping is tomes and bonus exp. Changing that so you can run a week's worth on a Saturday defeats that purpose.

Most likely it will be tied to story completion in the future. I was expecting to be able to save the Guildhests for the first new class they add (came into 2.0 with all 50's and leveled Arcanist via story), but lo and behold, I was forced to complete over half of them on a level 50 and waste thousands of exp to continue the storyline and unlock King Mog.

If Sahagin's and Slyph's tribe quests are required to unlock Leviathan and Ramuh, respectively, I won't be surprised.

The daily caps on stuff like Roulettes and Tribe quests don't bother me at all.

What really gets under my skin is the weekly limits on CT, Coil, and Myth. They conflict with what's supposed to be a core attraction and mechanic of the game, the armory system. I'm tired of being "punished" for playing DRG. DRG is the one job I really like (since the changes from 1.23 anyway) but it's not always welcome or needed. Plus, I'm the kind of player who likes to try everything out at least once and part of what kept in XI for so many years was being able to freely level AND GEAR all the jobs (plus experimenting with crazy stuff like WHM/BST soloing, which was surprisingly effective).

Not in this game though. I have everything at 50, but the only job I have really geared for (current) ' end game' is DRG. I've recently been trying for tank drops in CT, though it's not enough - for the most part, if you aren't both experienced and iLv80, you aren't getting into any PF groups for EX primals or Coil (not on Excalibur anyway). Oh, but what's this? I can't possibly farm more gear for my BLM, WHM or PLD to be useful to my FC or Coil Static as something other than DRG in any reasonable time frame because of stupid weekly caps. In the time it'd take to get all that gear, the next patch and tier of equipment will have come along anyway and so suddenly I'm stuck in the exact same predicament all over again, only perhaps maybe with the option of going with a different starting class this time.

At the same time, if they do remove all the lockouts, then failings of vertical gear progression come to bear in full - people just spam what little content there is at the end and are left with nothing to do. This is why I've been railing against the devs for days now in various topics. XI may not have been perfect, but it did a damn good job of keeping my interest for years and not because drops were horrible or the game was too hard. If this is where the MMO market is staying, see ya - Destiny's out in September. Maybe Tanaka wasn't so crazy after all.

It's to make the content last.

I'm ok with it. I haven't run out of things to do yet in FFXIV.
