Daily limits are an outdated mechanic

I'm talking about the monster tribes dailies and duty roulette bonuses. The way it is set up where you can only do so many quests in a day, and how you only get the roulette bonus once a day is an outdated mechanic. I propose it be changed to the same system as leves.

In order to make the most out of dailies and roulette bonuses, one would have have to play every single day, and for us who work, that is just simply unrealistic. Please change it to allowances like the leves, so that those of us who only get to play once a week can reap the rewards like everyone else.

honestly, i think its such a contradiction that they placed a weekly cap on Myths so that players would who play too much dont get too ahead, too quick, and then they go and make these daily bonuses who reward exactly that.

as it is, two players can play the same amount of hours in a week, and one player will have progressed significantly more just because he played on different days instead of binge playing on a single day. these dailies make your gameplay less flexible and thus are IMO...outdated.

    EDIT:

I bolded the last part of the OP because I feel people focused too much on the monster tribe quest limits, but my original post was geared more towards the duty roulette daily bonuses.

The dailys take literally 15mins to do all 6....

If you cannot log on 15mins a day you need to not play a mmo.

Game is already catered to casual too much that it is hurting the game. I know it is a crazy concept but someone who plays more should get more rewards.

Working as intended, imo. The roulette bonus is fine to me. However, I would support an increase of the daily cap that is in place. WoW had a 25 daily limit for awhile until they got rid of it entirely. We don't have near enough content for, say, a 25 per day cap but they could at least give us 6 per tribe or something like that, equaling 12 total. Kinda sucks seeing the dailies you've done so far go to waste because the current rank ones give more rep.

"Daily Limits" are outdated just like Quest Based progression, however it's what people come to expect with MMOs these days.

I spend plenty of time in the game. I spend almost none of that time doing daily quests. In fact the few times I have done daily quests were because I had a class at 44 and needed something to do while waiting for party finder to fill out.

Daily quests are a double edged sword. Repeatable content, YAY! Boring content, Boo! When Developers rely on Dailies to keep people entertained it's usually because they are hoping to make something quick and cheap. And that's usually what the experience ends up being. Quick and cheap.

I see no merit in raising my reputation with the beast tribes. The only tangible benefits are gilsink novelty mounts and more ugly dye colors we can't use on anything anyone actually wears.

This system screams "half-assed." If this is what you play MMOs for... maybe you need to raise your standards.

I don't think having dailies is outdated but well, the reason i left my previous MMO and come into this because I dislike the idea of having too many dailies implemented in the game. But now coming here and it seems that there is dailies to handle just to keep us busy and have something to do.

Good thing is they kept it short. But if they are going to make more and more dailies coming up in future patches, I am gonna get the feeling of burdened to do too many dailies. Well before others coming in to spam, "don't do it then if you dislike it", don't you think that by not doing the dailies, you have missed a good deal of bonus and progress that could help your game? That is why it becomes more like a work/job for you ingame.

Well, I already have a real-life work and now another job to do ingame.

Every day is the key word here. I seriously cannot fathom why you would tell someone who cannot play a game every day that they shouldn't be playing that game. A hobby is not only valuable to the people who enjoy it daily. I don't read a book every day, and yet it's still quite a worthwhile hobby. I don't play my oboe every day, but it's still a worthwhile hobby. I don't attend meetings for whatever art club or writing club or whathaveyou every day, but that's still a worthwhile hobby. I don't play FFXIV every day, but it's still a worthwhile hobby.

There is no logic in your statement.

    Dailies should disappear completely.

Or provide an alternative progression path that is not tied to time, but to skill. But that is difficult because FFXIV, like many other MMOs today, have forced itself into the classic questing framework where the quest system is only capable of producing bland content.

In terms of development costs, it's cheap and easy to produce these quests. You have templates for quests with actions and triggers all pre-written. Just change the targets, change the co-ordinates, fill in the dialogues with some filler, and there you go.

The concept of dailies was born out of reusing content, not producing content. Hence no matter how you tweak it, it's going to be boring and bland.

SE need to review their design philosophies on this. Are they going to keep trying to produce content while having their hands tied under a rigid content-reuse framework?

I seriously disagree with you. someone who plays more does not HAVE to be rewarded more.

Second, you are agreeing with me without even realizing it. you say that someone who plays more, should be rewarded more. so two people who play the same amount should be rewarded the same then?

so if i play 7 hours saturday, i should be rewarded the same as someone who plays 1 hour every day? we both played the same amount of hours, but the other guy got more rewards. see how you agreed with me?
