Forbidden Melds? Make yourself a set of two star gear with tier IV forbidden melds, it's better than you might think.

I think that will be completely fair to both us, the people who stuck through the horror of 1.0, and gave the game another chance in 2.0, and the new people. In fact, maybe this time they will take a 0 off our level too! Joy! -_-
Gil = Convenience currency (speed up leveling by spending gil, aesthetics as well)
Tomes = Progression currency (your goals are within this currency)
Seals = The real "wtf is this for" currency
I think people horde gil because they are waiting for the off chance that SE will put in something worthwhile to spend gil on.
Weird, I've made a good 20m+ on crafting alone, and that's in this "dead" economy. If crafting isn't making money, you're crafting the wrong things.
No point in being rich in this game? We'll see if you're still saying that when personal housing comes out and you can't afford more than small, while the rest of us who put effort into gil buy big luxurious mansions with gil to spare.
Basically this, leveling all the crafts is easy and takes a week but if you want to make money you just have to look at the market boards see what sells. Do some simple math find out profit margins on items that sell well. Its really easy to make money on the game once you level all crafts.Weird, I've made a good 20m+ on crafting alone, and that's in this "dead" economy. I can play The Sims for free anytime I want. I don't need to spend hours upon hours gathering and crafting to accumulate gil for a feature that might be added sometime in the future. Everything points to personal housing being basically a customizable inn room. Sorry, point still stands, nothing to spend gil on.Weird, I've made a good 20m+ on crafting alone, and that's in this "dead" economy. If crafting isn't making money, you're crafting the wrong things.

I'm not a materialistic person in the real world, so I really could care less about what your virtual house may or may not look like in the future. You need some help if you think having a fancy house makes you superior to anybody, whether in the real world or in a virtual one.

Keeping my friends geared-up. We've all been close for years IRL so why not blow a 100K of pixel money to penta-meld a stick for them?
The same reason people hoard real money
