I hear you OP, I'm in the same boat.

I'm a grand master crafter but I've pretty much stopped crafting for gils all together.

I did spend millions crafting penta melded 2 star accessories but when patch 2.1 happened materia prices took a free fall and so did the philo mat prices...

Right now housing is the only major gil sink. I'm sure they'll add more in the future.

Actually a lot are holding on to their gil because SE already said housing will drop. Why spend double what you will pay in a few months?

I can see some social appeal to housing, but this game is driven by impersonal endgame combat activities. 'Kill this stuff as fast as possible, no time to chat person from another server, I just want to be done with this so I can log off and do something fun' is the mentality I encounter outside my free company.
To me though housing and vanity is kind of like dress-up Barbie in a play house while all the other guys are blowing up GI-Joe outside.

I got 2,1 mil nothing to spend it on. just keeping it there I spend money to buy mats for crafts makes things easier

I see your "Why would you want millions of gil?" and raise you a "Why wouldn't you want millions of gil?".

I for one enjoy knowing that there will be very little that I can't afford, and that I can buy whatever I want, when I want it. Do you keep money in your bank account despite not necessarily needing that money at the moment? I do, and I hold on to extra gil in game that I don't necessarily need too.

I just horde it to see how much I can get... I'll likely blow most of it on a FC or personal house at some point. Just have to wait for housing prices and my bank account to reach parity.

But I'm guessing it's a LONG way off at this point.

There is no point in being rich in this game. Sorry it took you this long OP, and sorry you had to waste time leveling professions to find out.

Developers have already confirmed twice that crafting is useless. Gil just goes to FC housing, the occasional potion/food buff, and of course, buying relic/extreme mode runs :P

Non-legacy player here sitting on 3.5m, only leveled Alchemy to 50 (thankfully). Nothing to spend it on.
