Real question, say you have no interest in buying a house, is there reason to hoard gil?

Until recently I was busy gathering/crafting to make as much money as possible in hope that I could use it to buy or make something for my DoW/M classes. Turns out that is not in the game design, so I've stopped crafting/gathering for profit. I've become the DoW/M you want us all to be, grinding the same dungeons for Philosophy/Mythology which means gil is just an on screen artifact left over from a time when it had purpose.

I know, rich character problems.... but still if you have a ton of gil what are you holding onto it in hopes of?

I'd love to give some other person who did not make money crafting some of this currency for some rare dungeon gear I need. They could then give it to someone for some rare dungeon drop they need and the cycle could keep repeating itself.

Don't fret. Devs will just remove another zero from everyone's gil to fix the economy again cause it worked so great last time!

The only use outside of housing that I've been made aware of is for the beastman tribe mounts/minions. Doesn't come close to spending a million, but it puts a minor dent in it.

I just like looking at all those digits. It shames me that it brings me so much joy. I imagine this is what its like to be a 1%er.

It's not really hording if there's nothing to spend it on. The game gives you pretty much everything just for playing. Even if you do buy a house, within another month or two you'll be back up to a million again -- and you'll already have a house! Two if you count your personal one!

I did the same thing... have 4 crafting and one gathering job at 50, and realized there was no point... so I started grinding gear on my main recently... Only the rest of the world had a 3 month head start on me so I just started gearing up end-game before 2.1 came out. The good news is that it's easier to gear up then it used to be.

Lol, I'd rather they just do a one time conversion of gil to mythology and then remove it from the entire game. Even a 1 million gil to 100 myth would make me feel like I didn't completely waste my time crafting. Would give me enough to finish gearing my whm.
