Aye, I can see where you're coming from. Unfortunately when I posted that last night I wasn't 100% well and in a right frame of mind. Sorry about that.
The line was that you'd only get banned if you went around parading about it. I used it from the Cliff days and I never had any disciplinary action. Like so many other people claiming they got banned for "nothing", most likely windower users who got banned were caught doing *something* and would just never own up to it. (Chicken's not vegan?)Not sure since it was a while ago already but didn't some guys in FFXI get banned for just using windower before the SE's windower release? I know windower was used for running bots also but some guys in FFXI got banned for just simply using windower to browse internet while playing game.
I used the other windower (and APRadar and Mappy) for years. I never bought gil, I never botted, I never poshacked, I never made fun of Hiroshima in /shout, therefore I never got banned.
People get banned not for windower, because all it does is window the game, but for using the FFXI App and plugins along side it. Which is funny since the excuse they gave was "just want to window the game". This is why they say its cheating, because the plugins and apps are in essence, cheats. The only thing that isn't a cheat would be the Tparty plugin, as it was data originally sent to the client SE had displayed but disabled it because it crowded the party window. Not sure since it was a while ago already but didn't some guys in FFXI get banned for just using windower before the SE's windower release? It'd be nice if they improved on the /lsmes command and gave linkshells an ls board or something that you access from the ls menu. In my head it would just be a noticeboard type thing that stores like 10 or so notices at a time. I know this isn't the priority at the moment but if something is absent we could maybe at least use it as an excuse to ask for something better - if people think this would be better of course.

I'm sure all the lodestone stuff is in database like MySQL and stuff, all they need to do is make something like you say with LS board which brings all the contents from the linkshell into the game through XML or w/e Linkshell Forum > RSS/XML output > Game translates it back into it's own + add posting back feature... I don't see why it's so damn hard... Would do the same damn thing for FFXI topics so everyone who don't check Lodestone every time can see it... they should add this topics stuff into the damn login program... that part is dumb as hell also...It'd be nice if they improved on the /lsmes command and gave linkshells an ls board or something that you access from the ls menu. Exactly. The nice thing about client-side modifications is, SE can't detect them directly, only indirectly in case the mod does something obviously illegal (like botting) But in that case the ban is well deserved.

This might be close to what I was thinking.
I can give some credence to the idea that having 8 LS messages scroll your chat when you sign in would be too much. At the same time, with the players asking for /ls1, /ls2 functionality, "just have the active shell's message pop up" is a shortsighted solution.
However, I keep envisioning the LS menu showing an LS message right below each shell's name, or it could be tied into a notice board like Wevlum is suggesting. There seems no obvious reason that can't be done. It would allow everyone to see the /lsmes is a manageable format, and won't require using a browser (for our full-screen and PS3 players--if/when they arrive).

Interim solutions are for pansies.
Ok SE, I know you said you have lots of other things planned for "fixing" the game at the moment, but what technology age are you living in that you have to keep mentioning it's 'hard' to implement something based on how you slapped it there in the first place?
So what can FFXIV linkshells do currently? Anywhere chat, who's on, who are the leaders, and in general if you're within the same area as another linkshell member or not.
What do FFXI's linkshells do? Everything mentioned above PLUS; the actual area the player is in, current job levels if they decided to display, a more simplified list to showing who is online, and the linkshell message. The only thing a FFXIV shell shows that a FFXI shell doesn't is the total number of people with a said shell pearl.
We are talking about a game that's supposed to be an improvement over your previous MMO, and you can't even get some of the same basic features in it?
Oh, and the thing about the Lodestone having linkshell features that SE said to use instead...I didn't know something like that actually existed on the site until I saw a server post a few days ago.

First, I appreciate the translations... thank you.
Second, tell the dev teams to stop with the "please be patient" crap.
Do they even have a clue what being patient means?
How about an honest explanation on what the hell happened to this mess that was released a year ago?
I'm sorry for the anger, but seriously..... stop with the "please be patient" stuff, it's making me ill.
How about somebody increases the budget for the game so that 1.) the customer who has BEEN PATIENT FOR A YEAR NOW (does anyone there understand the scope of a whole year?) can finally get his/her moneys worth from this game. 2.)SE can finally charge for the game and recoup some of it's money (even though I don't believe they deserve to) 3.) maybe even someday make a profit.
So stop with the excuses and get more people and get busy.
Yea? Drive on!
Dude, stop necro-posting. You've brought up 2-3 dead topics already for no reason at all.
