They must be, otherwise we would be seeing franchises that have their roots on PC (Crysis, Call of Duty) now being developed for consoles and ported to the PC.

Not really -- it just proves the market is in console gaming now because there's significantly more people with a console than there are with gaming rigs, especially over in the east where aside for esports and MMOs, the playerbase is heavily console based.
Most console games run in the budget of $35-120 million+ USD. (Excluding indie games.)
to me the question is how long are they expecting this game to last? the other question is isn't this supposed to be a next-gen game?
if they want this game to be viable for years to come they would have made it have the ability to use the stuff that is out NOW. if it cannot handle what is out now what makes you think it will be able to handle the upcoming stuff?
the other question goes along the same line of thinking. how can something be called a next-gen game when it uses something that is 7 years old. it should be using the newest stuff out and having it be able to be ran on the older systems.
it's nothing more than a compatibility mode on your windows programs. if it doesn't work properly they have ports for older versions that can be used. it's not a hard concept, but this staff seems to not be able to understand it.

They can easily make it DX10/11 compliant, but I'm pretty sure once they get the PS3 version out that is when if at all it would likely happen.
Honestly OGL I find personally better.
that makes one of us. i'll be honest the fps games that use the direct 10/11 systems are much more fluid than the direct 9 games due to them actually using more of your computer to its full capacity. the only way you would want anything that limits the performance is if you have a low end computer and are barely able to play the game as it is. those of us that have built gaming rigs are because we like the power they use and the fluidity of the games we play them on. it's pathetic to have such a beautiful game under utilizing the computers on the market.

i just hope one thing, and one thing only, right after 1.18 and a few tweakings, i hope 1.19 is the damn OPTIMIZATION for PC users! i mean, come on, im playing on a decent PC and its lag so much when rendering all the ppl who pass by me!
