You guys are crazy, the PC version of this game is dead. The only reason it's still running at all is cause they are banking on the PS3 version being a success in Japan, as such why would they bother upgrading DX?

Because the next Playstation Generation will probably support DirectX 11. And if FFXIV ever gets both feet out of the grave, it will last long enough to see a re-release in the next console generation. So supporting DX11 now would be a good money-saving move in the long term.
And run on Windows. NOT.
Get it straight, guys.
DirectX version is not relevant to PS3 in any way because it simply does NOT use windows as it's OS. DirectX is a Microsoft API for Windows nothing else.
SE, your statement is either badly worded (implying you don't care about the PC version) or your devs are really incompetent OR it is just a bad excuse. Neither of those possibilities makes you look good.
Clarifying: I'm not particularly pissed about the answer itself, only about the reasoning behind it.
