FFXI: PS2 limitations!
FFXIV: PS3 limitations!
FF???: PS4(5?) limitations!
SE really need to get the right people on their team for this. While the PS2 limitations was understandable not being able to support DX10(at least!) for PC is just crazy talk. I'm sorry though I guess it's not popular enough... for SE.

I understand the work involved to get the game onto DX10-11 but to say "if DirectX 10/DirectX 11 continue to grow in popularity" doesnt make sense. What other API besides open gl is there? I also agree that to run this game well you need an up to date card. So if SE if concerned about the adoption rate of DX10 or 11; why not start a poll and see what we have to say about it. Who knows... it might solve some issues.

I know I posted this thread because I saw others talking about DX and saw JP side had a response from the rep but... stupid question... I don't know whats really good moving from DX9 to DX10? I looked it up and other than it allows the processor to process multiple stuff allowing to render objects better... saw water gets really nice looking, but in FFXIV when on boat the water looks pretty damn good enough to me... Whats the big deal with FFXIV need to be DX10 or DX11? Does it make that much of difference when processing 3d images?
"Allowing processor to process multiple stuff" is a huge, huge item, dude. And it's not really just that, it's allowing for multi-processor support. DX9 old and busted.I know I posted this thread because I saw others talking about DX and saw JP side had a response from the rep but... stupid question... This isn't a case of PS3 limitations, this is a case of classical SE incompetence.
YES, our framerates would easily double and ambient occlusion/Depth of Field/ General drawing above 8 wouldn't have huge fps drops.I know I posted this thread because I saw others talking about DX and saw JP side had a response from the rep but... stupid question... Its shame I have this and the "One to Fifty, One Zone - Long OP" thread open in different tabs, I could be on two separate forums... :/
Edit*
SE is the master troll...

How'd they even design this game without starting on DX10-11. The new MMO they planned to run for the next 5-10 years and they start off with old technology. That's like... using cd's instead of dvds(bluray!) nowadays to store information. There is no logic!
I don't know how instantly make game run better for consumers can't be toward the top of the "To Do" list. Really I mean as stated countless times nearly anyone playing this game has a card capable of DX 10 and 11 so there is NO excuse to not have DX 10 or 11 and more so when the performance of the game is such a big problem for so many people.
EDIT: Is it evil of me to think that SE not looking into Dx10/11 means they really aren't listening to everyone? I mean it's easily one of the most requested things and for good reason. It can easily help improve the game and is really a no brainier.

Don't make me angry or I shall cut down all the trees and laugh as you can't breath!!!
I was reading an article on a gaming site today discussing the first video of the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 that was shown recently. While the game looks really good, it's not as nice looking as the PC version. When the developers were asked about this, they said that it was only natural that the PC version looked better given the increased performance modern PCs offer. If the PC version looked the same as the PS3, they said, it would mean that they had done a very poor job developing the PC version.
So... why exactly shouldn't this game support DirectX 10/11? Should the PC version only look as good as the PS3 version? Listen, SE...we're...*NOT* going to be mad about the fact that the PC version looks a lot better. That's only natural given the specs of modern PCs. Both versions should use the maximum potential of the platforms they're on. Ignoring DirectX 10/11 only hurts the game. It doesn't help anything.
I play on the PC now, and I'm planning on buying the PS3 version when it comes out. Regardless of what the PC version looks like, I'll probably spend more time playing the PS3 version simply because I like to play in the living room. It's just a personal preference. So consider me a PS3 player when I say this: make the best PS3 version you can, and give your PC version DirectX 10/11 support! Anything less in this day and age is inexcusable.
