Download the benchmark program and try to run that... if that does not run your computer is not strong enough to play ffxiv.

Outside that you can try drivers.
The benchmark said that my computer rates very low, and recommends lowest settings for the game. I have two ATI Radeon 5670's with Crossfire and overclocking. I also have the AMD Phenom II x6 Black Edition that's got all 6 cores unlocked and is also overclocked at 3.76Ghz. My computer runs this game at near max settings with nice smooth video (even in Uldah (where EVERYBODY is) on Figaro server) My average transfer rates are: 87 - 120/250 - 455.

The benchmark program is NOT always all that reliable on if your computer's going to be able to play the game or not. The benchmark was completely wrong with my friend Birry Williams on Wutai server. It says that his computer can't run the game at all, but yet he plays it on max settings every day with no problems.
