Need advice on when to 'place' Eos/selene

I've recently dinged 50 on SCH, but unfortunately I'm still not a very experienced healer on account of the dungeon exp bonuses leveling me up quite faster than I would have expected. I've gotten by so far without ever failing too hard, bar the occasional accidental dismissal of Eos mid-fight (lol), but it occurs to me that I've never really used the 'place' and 'heel' commands very often.

I almost always micro manage my fairies, so I would use 'heel' to un-root them after selecting 'obey', but that's really it. Would anyone be able to give me some advice on how to decide when 'placing' the fairies is better than having them follow me/what situations 'place' is more useful in? Is it more useful at end game? Up til now I've cleared AV and everything below it as SCH, so WP/AK etc. are still unknowns to me (as a healer at least). As for 'heel', does it serve any other purpose than to undo 'place' and maybe pull the fairy away from an AoE?

Another slightly related question: I know that Eos auto-casts embrace at targets with less than 70% HP, but what I would like to know is that, if she is not in range of the target, will she move in range to cast it or will she just ignore the target completely?

    Cheers for any help!

she will ignore it, unless u use embrace manually, them she will auto run till the range and use it.

Most of the time u can let her follow u, i only place her in a few places, like ak last boss so i can deliver the pulse away from pt and keep her healing, on titan so i can run from plume and let her on tanker range, most ppl use it alot on t5 and titan extreme.

Have Place and Heel on a hot key somewhere because she will prioritize following you over healing.

As the previous person stated:yes she will ignore people not in range.

Try to place her somewhere where she's fairly central to the group and in range of the tank. On Titan HM it does get kind of annoying having to re-place her each time she's land slide'd, but keeping her placed allows her to heal people or the tank as you're moving (I tend to put her behind titan and to the right. so she doesn't get cleaved and is missed by landslides that go straight back) I even position her during trash, while this is a bit overkill, it's good habit to get into.

It's really hard to say when to use place/heel, as there are quite a lot boss fights at end games, and different people have different strategies.
As some kind of general rule I personally found, when there are AOE skills that will stay on the ground (e.g. chimera, hydra, turn 1), it's best to let the fairy follow you.
And when there are skills that pulse at certain location or under player's foot (e.g. ultima, ifrit, titan), better find a quiet spot (not too far from ppl of course) and let her stay there.
Again, it doesn't apply 100% to all the fights and is just my personal opinion, so I guess the best you can do is find out what skill can kill your fairy and what can only do minimum damage. Then you can decide wether to let her dodge thing with you, or stay away from you.

Placement depends on what you do with the pet.

If you're using pet primarily to buff group. Keep it on Heel
If you're using it primarily to heal tank, place safely near tank where it won't get knockedbacked/AOE.
