Uh, from what I was aware, you still can repair your gear yourself - just open the Character sheet, target what piece of gear you want to repair, right hand click and select 'repair'. As for Hamlet Defense, all signs point to the fact it's gone for good - replaced by FATEs.
You have to be in what ever class required for the repair, it shows on the item the class and level of the class needed for the repair. Example, on my little monk, my pants need a level 15 weaver to repair, and my gloves need a level 15 leather worker to repair. So I can repair my cloth items on my own by switching to weaver (level 30) and repair the pants.Uh, from what I was aware, you still can repair your gear yourself - just open the Character sheet, target what piece of gear you want to repair, right hand click and select 'repair'. You're not wrong, just have to make sure you have that class needed to repair at the level needed. =]
And while I'd like to think fates sound anything like Hamlet Defense, it doesn't to me. =[
If they added fates for of the lands or hands then maybe it wouldn't be too bad, but hamlet allowed for of the land and of the hand to gain a bit for themselves, and as far as I know, there aren't any of the land or hand fates.Originally Posted by Final Fantasy Wikia
There are two phases to Hamlet Defense: a 50-hour non-combat phase where Disciples of the Hand and Land can enhance hamlet readiness for battle, and a 25-hour combat phase where Disciples of War and Magic can join the local militia and fight beastmen directly, while Disciples of the Hand and Land can aid in the effort in other ways.
During the non-combat phase of hamlet defense, players will be asked to contribute to the hamlet's stockpiles by crafting and delivering several different items. Hamlets start this phase with a "supply rating" of zero, which is increased by a certain number of points every time a required item is delivered. Once this value reaches certain breakpoints, the hamlet supply rating will increase. Higher supply rating determines the strength of the beastmen forces and the rewards obtained by victory during the combat phase.
I'd like this back, I don't consider it close enough to FATEs for it to be a problem.

the idea to bring fate for the DoH and DoL it's a good idea.. it's time to give a goal and a purpose for them.
DoW and DoM have the raid, dungeon and the FATE...
give them something to do!
Players repairing other players. Back in 1.0 we had this ability. Nice way to make gil. It was all automatic. You use their dark matter and you would recieve a auto tip per item. All that player needed to do was flag for repairs and the crafters came flocking.
Hamlet Defense sounds Amazing. Boggles my mind why they took it away. This is something that could really add a lot to this game. Right now everything just feels like a terrible grind, and that's not good in this age of MMOs. Try leveling a class after you've done all quests and all you really have to rely on is fates and hunt log (which doesn't extend far enough) and it's horrid.
Yes, I support these. Reasons why people hate Hamlet is because the fights and dramas over drops, especially the beast seals that was initially used for starting A Relic Reborn quest.
But the idea and how Hamlet works is amazing. The only content where crafters and gatherers shines, back then we even have achievements for party consisting of only battle jobs, battle & DoH/DoL jobs, and only DoH/DoL.
And there's these what we call back then as preparation stage before Hamlet commences, where even whole LS unite to donate their resources to strengthen that particular Hanlet stronghold bases. Was hated for being huge gil sinks since players who secured highest ranking are guaranteed seal drops and more special 2nd hand tools.
This is the content where this can involves over alot of people working for common goals.
As for players able to repair others, I couldn't see why this being left out either. Would make a good fortune.
I was close to getting my Chocobo mask from doing Hamlets.
But I figured I'd just finish it off in a few months when 2.0 rolled around.
And look where we are now...
