Why is the American box art so dull and uninspired?

I find nothing dull and uninspired about the NA box art.

I like it. It's the main villain of the Main story campaign. I looked at the Box Art and thought "I can't wait to fight him."

the Japanese Box Art has a lot of color and a lot of clutter and everything humanly possible packed into the small box space. but to me that doesn't make it better. it just makes it more bright.

personally, I think the EU box art is better than both of the others. It sums up the game very well, for me.

I want Game Box Art to suggest to me what the game is about. the EU cover does that. A team of heroes challenging a dangerous evil that looms over the land.

the NA cover just shows me the villain. the Japan cover just shows me a bunch of concept art..

i prefer my FF games with just the LOGO on white ...it has been like that 4ver (EU) , good thing i have the FFXIV 1.0 box (that is like that :P)

Our corporations think this is all we want. Big explosions, big tough guys and what not. When all in all that's far from the truth, we couldn't care less. Same reason why we are getting so many damn action movies without real story to them lately, just a big lightshow with explosions and dudes that look like they are wrestlers (or are).

I think I like the EU one best. It's more colorful than the NA version, but not as cluttered as the JA version.

Because in North America, colourful and exciting boxes like that would be ignored by most people thinking it's a "kiddie" gamr, or a JRPG, which it is, lol.

This! Every ff game on my shelf is like this and it looks classy and beautiful.
Please don't slap random crap on the cover like you did with the collectors edition inner case.

The amano illustration is gorgeus. I wish they hadn't taken out all color from the logo but I understand why it had to be done. XII-3 is 100% NOT a ff title on my book just because of the logo and the name.

My personal opinion on this is EU > USA > JP.
Close call between EU and USA, but JP is faaar behind for me.

I feel for the designer of the NA box art, giving a pile of stock images and probably knows next to nothing about the game, told that "This guy is bad make him mean!" Trust me it's pretty common in the design field to have no god damn idea what people actually want from you.

I'm disappointed the European and American box arts don't have "Yaaaaarrrrggghhh!!" written across the front. That might've made it more exciting.
