Open your router ports ... Wow. Because ports are being throttled and there isn't MASSIVE amounts of data that directly contradict your "diagnosis". That's about as effective as throwing gas on a fire because it's a liquid.

Yup, because using a bandaid to cover a gun shot wound is super effective!

For the love of all that's good in the world, please stop offering troubleshooting steps. They are redundant. Most router ports are open on the FFXIV range (the same range a P2P 30000-50000 or something) anyway so you would be literally wasting time.

It's the backbone chain where packets dropping. The connection is breaking intermittently either due to bottlenecking on the node (too much traffic/failing hardware/old hardware/poor optimization and prioritization) or because Level3 is famous in the networking world for being poor.

There is literally nothing that Square can do. You can try to tunnel around the bad hops with a VPN, but remember that the further you go, the higher latency and you run the risk of running into other bad routes.

It is NOT a netcode issue, it is an internet backbone issue- important routers along the path many people's connections take to the NA data center are having problems that are causing the lag issue. Both you and the 1 person to like your post seem to be missing that we've addressed this already. Unless you can name another game that is served out of the same data center, of course it's only going to affect this game, because it is routers leading to that datacenter causing the problem.
You are the shining light in a sea of darkness. Thank you for being the voice of logic and reason.
