Duty Finder is just maddening.

Been clicking commence for the last 10-15 minutes now. Just withdrawal after withdrawal.

I also hate when you see 6/6 healers or whatever that have readied themselves, someone withdraws, and then it readies up again and only goes to 5/6 healers and then it times out. It's like, did one of the healers from the last time just click commence and walk away expecting to come back and be inside the dungeon? Ugh -_-

And I'm pretty sure that you're not being grouped with (majority of) the same 3 parties; it probably changes occasionally with every few cancels.

I can agree that a withdraw shouldn't cause everyone in the party/raid to have to recommence. Just fill the slot, if it can't be filled in 5 minutes then maybe restart.

It even happens in PvP.

You always end up 7/8 ready waiting for one AFK guy. I'm convinced that some people queue up and then sprint out of the room to go watch TV or something.




Then after the 8th guy times out it goes to 5/8....

This is because you are getting a different group of people each time.

The matching system works in a two-stage process.

Stage 1: form a party from each of the role queues. Once the party is formed, send them to stage 2.
Stage 2: allocate instance, then pop the Commence dialog.

When someone withdraws, you restart from stage one, from scratch. That means the party is completely dissolved, everyone (except the one who withdrew) is thrown back to their respective role queues, and the system starts forming you into a new party as if you've never went past stage 1 in the first place.

This process is also why you can pop the Commence dialog (meaning you have been successfully allocated an instance), then someone withdraws, and then you form a new party only to sit at the Server Reservation.

It's also why at odd hours when there's only 1 tank in the world queueing dungeons, you could have 1 DD timeout (i.e. 1/1, 1/1, 1/2 at the Commence dialog) and then go back to staring at 0/1 1/1 2/2. It's because that only tank got sent to a different party.

If SE made it worth it to que for CT on my tank I would. But once you get the only piece of gear you need out of there.... Kind of pointless to go back, so I go on a dps like 90% of the other tanks.

If you're a healer or tank it may be better to just drop from the queue and go to the back to get grouped with a different set of people trying to queue up. If you're a DPS you might have to suck it up and wait due to the longer queue times.

SE really needs to make some adjustments based on how often you can queue/withdraw and/or don't show the progress of a dungeon if someone attempts to join an In Progress dungeon.

Once I got about 12 withdrawals from the CT duty finder and then when we were waiting for the instance to pop, everyone had clicked ready, the duty finder kicked me from queue... I don't know what happened there.
