Content, how often do you want to see it delievered?

The MMO standard is big patches with massive content, but is this really the best way to deliver in 2014? Perhaps a release when finished approach would be better. Let's take 2.1 as an example and see what it could have been like if the content release was spread out of the 4 months:
September: Daily Beast Tribe quest and Hildebrade
October: Crystal Tower and Good King Mog
    November: EX Primal and PvP
December: Ultima, Housing, and New dungeons

I'm actually thinking this might be a better model for sub based games. It give players a reason to log in every month and helps them feel like they are get something for their sub fees. The key word is release when finished.

PS-I have no issues with sub fees, in fact I still find them very cheap.

n_n I don't know, I don't have a problem with the way things are arranged right now. In fact I rather large content patches, I enjoy sifting through what to do instead of having no choice but to do what they've released in a month. Spare the rod spoil the child

It's actually easier for them to release large content patches, as they can assign multiple teams, each team doing one or two things, and polish those, then release all of them at once, as opposed to rushing them to get something out quickly.

you must be new with MMO's the content release rate for final fantasy 14 is where it should be. The game has been out for 4 to 5 months and folks complain and rant i figure must have attention deficient disorder or something. Keep in mind this game is way more casual then final fantasy 11, it has its challenges and it also has 3 full expansions in the development line. Lets look at the life span of Final fantasy 11 shall we, it has been out since what 2002 and is still going strong with a hardcore crowd in 2014 with content still being made. Can you see yourself growing through the years with Final fantasy 14 for 10+ years ? Ask yourself this when you pick up a quality massive multiplayer role playing game especially from Square-Enix cause i have yet to be disappointed by what they deliver.

This was discussed at length and actually answered by Yoshi-P here prior to the release of patch 2.1. He also explained the reason why they use a branch method of development and don't split the patches up into smaller patches like you are suggesting.

Personally, I am fine with the frequency of content delivery as it stands, but then again I don't log nearly enough play time on a weekly basis to have exhausted myself on content thus far.
