    Blacklist and Party finder

why do people I have blacklist still have their party finder recruitment appear?

PF advertising has been getting out of hand lately and blacklist should be a simple way to get rid of them.

Blacklist is only for eliminating conversation with someone. You don't see a person's character disappearing from your screen when you blacklist them. What makes you think that their party finder (a totally separate game system than in-game chat) groups would just disappear all of a sudden too?

It would create a duty finder matching nightmare. Causing queue's to be longer than they already are. A feature like this would cut down on the pool size people can play with and it wouldn't just effect you but the 3 (if doing 4 man content), or 7 (if doing 8 man content), or 23 (if doing CT) other people the duty finder system is trying to build a party with.

Lets look at a 8 man party.
    2 tank, 2 healers, and 4 dps.

Duty finder finds all the people to create the party. And you (dps) have one of the tanks blacklisted. Well, I guess duty finder has to drop you from the party because the 6 other people (not including the person who you have blacklisted), don't have the tank blacklisted. Which means you are the weakest link on duty finder doing it's job of creating a full party. So, you go back to the queue waiting for a new party to be formed and the 7 other people just wait until another dps comes available. Their queue time would be must smaller than yours. What it would do it cause you to be pushed out of parties constantly.

Sounds annoying doesn't it? Now just imagine that a much larger scale where you have people blacklisting other people. Luckily you can only blacklist from your own server. The idea of blacklist in FFXIV is to essentially mute that person. It doesn't mean they disappear from the world.

My apologies, I'm still from the older mind set where duty finder and party finder are interchangable. However, my point doesn't really change that much. If anything it hits a little more home.

If you start the party I can see that blacklisted people not join your party. However, if a party is started by someone else and lets say already has a 7 players, you have someone blacklisted in that 7, does that mean you don't join the party? So, now 8 people are still waiting around all because of one person being blacklisted. So, no one gets content started and still waiting around. And it would get worse as you involve more people.

Edit: I figured I'd add some random scenarios.

8 people looking for party; all for the same content, one person has one of the 8 blacklisted. You create the party through party finder, 6 people can join your party, and the blacklisted person can't. The party of 7 can't start content. And the 6 other people who don't have the person blacklisted are screwed because of you blacklisting them.

8 people looking for party, all for the same content. One person has one of the 8 blacklisted. Another person starts a party through party finder, 6 people join the party, one of them is a person you have blacklisted. You can't join the party because of it. The the party is still waiting for another person and you are out of a party.

It gets worse when you introduce more people as a sample size and more people who have random people blacklisted, on top of the fact your pool size is only down to your server and even smaller pool because not everyone on your server is doing the same content as you.

Just a small thing to remember about blacklist, it's just a mute button for a person. It removed them from your chat channels not from the games content.

Because it is not programmed in the game to not show party finder groups of people who are on your blacklist.

Shhhh, don't bring logic to these forums. I hear you can get poked in the eye or kicked in the knee!

There is nothing to see or hear folks, move along, move along!

Your logic is pretty bad. If someone I had blacklisted was in a party finder I would either leave or kick them before we started in the first place (if I was the party leader). Who would willingly play with someone who bothered them enough to blacklist? In either scenario they'd/we'd be another person short. One person leaving regardless is no different than 1 blacklisted person being unable to join.

    Simple scenarios:
    - You cannot see the parties in PF which have one or more people you blacklisted (or at least the parties founded by someone on your BL).
    - If you create a party on PF, blacklisted people cannot see it.
    - If you join someone else's party in PF, it doesn't prevent someone you blacklisted from joining (since the party founder didn't blacklist them); it's up to you, when you see them joining, to remain or not in the party.

Yes, it would limit the parties you can join, but that's the point of a blacklist: to prevent interactions between you and people you dislike.

I honestly don't see what the resistance is about. I'm assuming all OP wants is a way to filter out parties made by blacklisted people, much like how you would filter out, well, any other criterion.
