Manually crafting on ps3 with controller is slower now!

*Manually Macro Crafting NQ or even HQ for better exp!

I would use Toggle or Mixed under Cross Hotbar Controls
Would use Triangle to start synthesize each time with out Toggle being taken out of focus even if crafting log opens and just press Triangle then use macros and wouldn’t have to toggle R2 till I needed to or wanted to stop!

But now every time crafting log or any window opens toggle loses focus and I have to toggle again after Crafting Progress windows shows!

*Triangle wouldn’t have a skill in the slot while doing this

I totally agree - it's pretty annyoing not only during crafting where you now need to use unnecessary extra button presses but as I use hold / mixed modes with xbars up all the time it's messing pretty hard with my routines as the damn bar keep closing all the time. Let's say I'm in dungeon and have the bar up with primary actions there and then pop up screens shows (like on the start of training duty) and - BANG - damn bar is gone. Or you need to type quickly something in the chat - again - BAM - bar's gone! SO ANNOYING and inconvenient now! Please bring back the old functionality as an additional option(s) - Hold Old/Legacy and Mixed Old/Legacy as the current "improvement" made the hold feature basically useless at it's current state. You can also look into adding a "shift" mode where you press L2 / R2 to bring up (and hold) bar and then once you press action button it will go down again. This is the worst possible way to "fix" stuff - if you want to have new mode(s) - ADD them instead of replacing the current ones working quite fine.

Originally - reading the patch notes about this particular change - I thoug it will simply make the bar "inactive" (= not to react to any of it's buttons) while not in focus or overlaped by other window which would be quite fine in almost all situations but not to close completely like this.

So what's the problem?

The "problem" is that SE "fixed" something what didn't need fixing in a first place and the xbar now closes on each fly's fart ... It might not be as important for players not using (or used to) Xbar but for those who did it's pretty big and inconvenient change.

We're trying to use / have the bar function as before - in the hold (or mixed) mode you don't need to press & hold shoulder L2 / R2 buttons every time you need to press one of the action buttons there, you just pull it up once and then use the button without holding it which is much more convenient and less stress on your hands as you don't need to cramp it around the controller to press two buttons at the same time. Prior 2.1 patch "fix" it was possible to have the bar up constantly independent of anything else happening on the screen (and even use the functions while bar was not visible / covered by other windows, which might be hassle at some times but benefit some other times). So - as OP mentioned - you can chain crafts without contantly (re-)pulling the bar up between each craft, simply by selecting recipe in the list, pressing triangle to craft (in such case indeed the triangle button would remain unassigned - a small "tax" for the convenience") and then continue using the craft actions or macros right away. Now - after each craft completes the bar will close forcing you to re-open it by pressing the shoulder button again - unnecessary button push for each craft. The same if you use hold bar for DoW / DoM action - since patch we need to keep to re-open it so often that the whole "hold" option practically lost it's meaning. In a short - badly implemeted "fix" screwed over hard the users of controllers.

It's not just in crafting, it's in gathering and in dungeons. If I chat or open up another window my toggle de-focuses and then instead of jabbing my spear up its rear I'm leaping up and down behind the boss like my pants are on fire.

Exactly - same for any other class - I use hold bar all the time, now it closes what ever else you use which is plain stupid. It would be OK if it would become "inactive" but stayed up for the peirod of time it's not in focus while you're using another windows like chat or map but it should stay up and reactive once back in focus otherwise the whole hold option is pointless. It's also pretty annoying in dailies or any other quests where you need to "inspect" or "wait" at location for mob to appear - I always bring up the bar right away after mob shows but then - BUM - some idiotic pop-up message will close it again and I'm jumping around like bunny instead of using my attack abilities - MEH! Whoever though of this "fix" must have been drunk or actually never played with controller in the first place.

If you checked that video you would have seen R2 Toggle never lost Focus and I just press Triangle to start synthesize each time using this I would just toggle lay controller down and just use Triangle and 1-2 macro that has been set up!

The only thing they needed to add was a macro that could toggle thru Hold/Toggle/Mixed I really only use Hold/Mixed! I use Hold cause most of them running around I would Hold really quick and hit sprint, and release hold!

I tried toggle myself briefly and for problems like this stopped using it. IMO it's toggle that's broken.

Instead I have it set so the hotbar only appears when pressing L2 or R2. I only press buttons when I need to and it doesn't clutter my screen.
