How I would like to see World Bosses changed

Or at least, a suggestion for some future World Bosses.

Actually, we have 2 : Odin and Behemoth.
While the later has a 2 FATE chain before it's down, and thus you get a few minutes to get there if you aren't camping dragonhead all day, Odin pops and dies in seconds. He was up in balmung yesterday, at 50% health the time people start to shout and he was dead the time anyone could teleport there. In around 3 minutes, this so-called World Boss had vanished and all that was left were WHM raising everyone.

In short, these events are way too short (and btw, the fix SE did, though it allows everyone to get at least a hit, now prevents anyone I know to get gold).

What I discussed about in a LS I have, was about a different type of world event. Still using a 30 mins timer, an nearly unkillable beast which would give rewards on how well the team did during that timer, with a bonus to all the participants if it is downed within the time limit. But that would need to be really hard to do, and really impossibe within at least 20 mins.

The idea would be to give more opportunities for non hardcore players to see the world bosses at least once in their entire play time (personnal record : 2 behemoth and no odin, even when I run as soon as I have the info).

I agree. Got to odin yesterday at 75% and still got a bronze.

Also, once too many people show up the hit detection goes completely downhill. That isn't helping either.

Been playing since launch day, and I've only seen Behemoth.......... Yep, it's King Behemoth from Crystal Tower.

Maybe, 20 minutes is a long fight, if it was well done it would be annoying to endure for some players I'm sure... If it had any important mechanics, I think the way GW2 did it was nice... A good anticipation, with pre-fates and such... A good chunk of health according to how many players are engaged on it....
A lag-free server... (yesterday on that very same odin) neither me nor anyone in my party could get their combos done due to the insane amount of lag... I would get AF/UI buffs super late, never getting that fast cast from switching, my spells doing delayed dmg, procs being used but not counting cause it took forever to realise I actually used the spell... My DRG friend couldn't do his combos properly lol...

We managed to get silver np, but gold? Impossible. Now that everyone can actually see him and don't spam AoE nonstop he dies too fast. And we get this type of lag.

Something should be done. I liked the world-boss dragons in GW2, specially that one "death" dragon. Was rather fun (can't remember exaclt the name, Tequatil or something).

I normally don't have much good to say about FFXI, but the most memorable fight I saw in that game was the fight for Outpost warp points. A giant Treant wandered around with millions upon millions of hit points that was meant to be killed over the course of a week. People threw themselves at the tree constantly, getting killed and warping back to have another go at it. Of course, the reward was incredible and it didn't cause an XP penalty, so people had good reason to make the attempt.

Perhaps in this case, the world boss could teleport to different zones (for a truly world-spanning challenge) over the course of its timer, and rather than being a straight level 50+ enemy, it could take similar damage from both level 1's and level 50's alike while dishing out damage proportional to the player's health.

An other idea that was discussed was the creation of a special instance, 8-men party (or up to 24 now that we have alliance, or whatever the devs would imagine..), which would be a maze. The event is timed, like 1 try and 24 hours of openning for each part, and you are NOT guaranteed to find the exit. The map would be hidden, the maze really challenging, and each part would have a trick to go through.
After 1 or 2 maps struggling to go through the riddles, the final part to confront the beast would open, and the party would get the chance to down the boss, and savor their reward. The last part may be an open world arena to fit the "world boss" idea.

    In short : (for example)
    => 3 days event every X week, 3 parts
=> each part opens for 24 hours long, you can enter it only once during that time, and cannot enter a part if you failed at the one before. It's a regular instance while in
=> It's a maze with riddles and there is no map. You have no guarantee to finish it before time ends.
=> the finale is a show down on the boss itself, murder it at will

This idea though would lock out many players for a long time before they master the riddles, and I don't know if it wouldn't be too boring after a few times finishing it..

I'd simply like to see them increase the rate at which they spawn (a few a day maybe) and just limit the rewards to a quest for completion so the reward can only be recorded once a day. Make the quest reward the barter item, and allow the barter item to be turned in for a bit of myths to keep people coming.

This helps with a few problems:

    - People going weeks without seeing either simply because of their schedule.
    - Gives incentive to do it regardless of where they are at with character progression.
    - Allows for more stable open world content choices.
    - Spreads people out a bit by having multiple spawns a day while only receiving the barter reward from the quest once daily.

They could even introduce NPCs that give a vague update as to how close till they spawn. Ex:

Ishgardian NPC that let's you know the time window by what he says.

"The northwest wind has changed its direction. An ill omen indeed." - Behemoth will spawn in 3-4 hours
"The animals flee east. Do they know something we do not? " - Behemoth will spawn in 2-3 hours
"All is eerily quiet to the west. I sense a calm before the storm" - Behemoth will spawn in 1-2 hours
"Listen, adventurer! The mountains echo as if the heart of the mountain is beating" - Behemoth will spawn in 30min - 1 hour
"Our Scouts bring ill news! A behemoth has been sighted down the west passage!" - Behemoth will spawn in under 30min

I would just like to be able to reliably participate in this content without being forced to mindlessly camp out hoping it will spawn today.
