What have I missed?

1.0 Legacy player here, loved the game but started to feel like a gear treadmill. Just wondering what's new if anything.

Edit: I wasn't clear, I played ARR since Launch, 1.0 wasn't a gear treadmill - ARR is. I was more wondering about ARR now, I played for 3 months when ARR launched.

1.0 was far from a gear treadmill.

This game is a gear treadmill. Granted, CT lets you skip a few steps, but it's still pretty much AF -> i55/60 -> Darklight -> CT loot -> Myth/Allagan

It's going to become more so as higher tiers of gear are released if current signs are any indication.

The difference? This treadmill isn't broken.

If you are short attention spanned, instant gratification, aka player of this generation, and a generic MMO that is common all over the place then XIV is the game for you.

Do not expect Final Fantasy or similar to FFXI.

Community is trash, no sense of help or anything because of too many amateurs from other generic MMOs.

Haha maybe my comments worth a bit more because i experienced the game that much? :P!

Most of the 50s were alrdy 50 in 2010-2011 era.

Yesterday i joined a party finder group, got kicked after wasting 30 mins(waiting for part to form), im like "O.o?".... so i learned that they got a FC mate who was also a tank.

I was like they could have asked me to leave?

I don't know about you but it wasn't hard to get a 50 class come 1.20ish. Synapse was right though - Don't expect FFXI in terms of scope, don't expect a Final Fantasy game, keep in mind this is an MMO designed to "fit into the market", so if you know how other MMOs tend to update, you'll know what to expect here. The biggest changes were them nerfing older content (some more than others), 450/week myth cap and higher exp in dungeons.

They added some dungeons too I suppose, but they simply moved WP gear > AK > Pharos and reintroduced 1.0 items in the Hard Mode dungeons.
