Halp... we need help..While i agree there are a lot of complaint threads, there is a good reason for them. And no i don't mean to drag this thread down to be negative, but people complain because they too love the game and want to see it improved upon. If they didn't care, they'd just quit and move on. But they complain as a cry for help even if it doesn't seem it.
But on topic: I just finished the main story and felt so accomplished after completing it. Loved the last dungeons which is odd since i hated dungeons till this point. Started my BLM relic aswell which i'm happy about. Now to find people willing to help a newb BLM with those fights to finish it.(
It's nice to see a thread about adoration for this game :P
@.@
I enjoy it too but it's getting to me...
I agree though, having all the classes in one character is just great.![]()
People who love this game are either first time or new MMO'ers or are FF Fanatics, that and you never played FFXI to end game. Because FFXI was easily the better game here content/zone/end game wise.
To me having all the classes on one character is frustrating and it counter's the system. Sweet I have a tank and a dps to 50!!!. Oh wait, I can only run BCB on one of them.... So pretty much, since I have a tank, I'll never get to DPS anything, EVER.
Can't tell you how many times my FC wants to do something so I join on my blm, then we sit there looking for a tank for 2 hours and it's only a matter of time before one of them goes "dude... Just tank, your tank is geared and your good." And I end up sucking one up so that 7 other people can have a good time and me being miserable.

I forgot to mention how great some of the details are too! I was fiddling with cooking in the Culinary guild and I happened to notice some of the chefs are actually cooking, a couple of them actually have frying pans with pieces of meat actually moving around in the pan. That's what I call attention to detail.
Anyone ever watched their toons face while he/she fishes? You can actually see the facial expressions change from being in the zone and focused all the way to the look of shock and joy when they land a fish.
I played FFXI for almost 7 years. I only quit after abyssea(sp). Once the level cap got raised i didn't feel like leveling up my 13 75's haha. But i did everything in FFXI, well all but finished a relic. Which was rather rare @ that time. Now i hear relics are common. Even beat Vrtra with only 12 people. Ahhh those were the days! But i digress, i also feel that FFXI was a much better put together game. Yes the combat wasn't amazing compared to games now. But it was great for the time i guess. It had everything. You could even capture pets and have them fight and become champion. And they had NMs to hunt while waiting for a party or something. I miss it now.![]()
11 was terrible. Only people whom never played mmo's before but 11 think 11 was so fantastic. After I quit 11 and played a real MMO like Rift I didn't realize myself how terrible 11 really was. The entire design of the game with the grind fest was just so outdated and fail. I'd never play another game like 11 if it was released now a day. I quit rift right b4 it went f2p because it became so grindy.People who love this game are either first time or new MMO'ers or are FF Fanatics, that and you never played FFXI to end game. Wish there was more reason to traverse the areas, the environments are really nice but i find myself only running through them once or twice for quest lines. Some type of battle content in the areas would be nice...
I use to love the beastmen strongholds back in 1.0 but now they seem small and not very dangerous at all
SE give us a reason to stand out in the beautiful environment you've created!

Rift did real good for first couple months soon as they caved to the casual whining 90 percent of the players quit. The type of casual that whine about content before actually trying are actually a minority but vocally they are the majority they spend more time asking how to do crap on the forums and in general chat then they do playing the game.
You had to play FFXI at launch to think it was good and enjoy it into it's future. When 11 Launched there was no Wow and there was no Rift. All there that was out worth mentioning was Ultima Online, EQ1, Asheron's Call, Lineage, etc.11 was terrible. Only people whom never played mmo's before but 11 think 11 was so fantastic. After I quit 11 and played a real MMO like Rift I didn't realize myself how terrible 11 really was. The entire design of the game with the grind fest was just so outdated and fail. You can't compare FFXI to a game that game out almost a decade after FFXI was launched (9 Years) to be exact. That would be like waiting 9 years and saying FFXIV sucks because (insert new game here).
And you say the game was outdated and fail.... couple points to consider here,
1. It was the first Cross Platform MMORPG EVER created, you can play on PS2, PC, or Xbox 360
2. At launch it really wasn't so outdated, it had the best graphics of any MMO at the time in my opinion
3. Exp Parties were a ton of fun
4. End game was a ton of fun
5. These new games your referring do didn't exist for 5-9 years after the fact, not even WOW was out.
You really are comparing today's games to a game from over a decade ago.....

How a game can succeed:
-Don't create a user forum
-Don't read reddit
-Don't listen to emails
-Use an in game survey system and reporting system to get feedback
-Build the game the way you think it should be built.
-Ignore the vocal majority that is the player minority.
