I can't access my character in the game

So I started today by going into final fantasy 14 to play with my character that I have progress a lot with.I log in and then press start game in the title screen and it says to choose a server which i already did long ago and found it odd that it's telling to choose again but i did as instructed and bought it was gonna take me to the character selection screen and to my surprise it started like when you first play this game with an introduction to the game like I'm new and don't have a character which i do but there is not enough information for me to determine why did my character i worked so hard to level up got deleted or something and then i went to the lodestone and saw that my character is there with all progress but every time i go to the game i can't access my character.I don't know how to talk to a developer or someone that can help me cause I'm new to this game but I am learning as i go to learn and get better,

With patch 2.1, they split servers up into data centers to alleviate congestion. You're asked to pick a data center, not a particular server, the first time you log in after 2.1. After that, it remembers your selection, but you can change to a different data center from the title screen at any time.

Are you sure you picked the data center that contains the server your character is on? According to your forum profile, your character is on Behemoth, which is part of the Primal data center. Check your data center selection at the title screen. Then check the server selection on the character select screen (servers are in the upper right, click to change to a different one).

yes i did i choose the primal in the data center cause my server is there

Is it a billing issue? If you started in December (assuming your forum join date reflects that), you would probably be at the end of the 30 days free period, and thus are required to subscribe in order to keep playing. Although I would have thought the system wouldn't have let you get past the login screen if it was a billing issue.

The only other thing I can think of is there is server maintenance for that particular server group - SE announced that there is maintenance around this time, so it's likely you're trying to access the server while it's offline. All you can do is wait til the maintenance is over and then try again.

EDIT: I think it might indeed be server trouble related to the Primal server group - I noticed this update posted on the Lodestone under server maintenance: http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...e84b744ccb75f2

Do you get the regular screen after you log in? The one with Start, Data Center, Opening Movie, etc etc.

Click on Start. You'll get a screen saying "loading data center".
Click on World. Make sure you're selecting your world, Behemoth, from the list.

Is your character there? Do any of the other worlds on the list have a number next to them?

I did choose my server and i know which one is it,also that has never happen to me until 36 hours ago and I have a paid account to play this game

Yes, but do you see your character at all when you select your world from the World list?

I didn't it keep starting up with the opening theme like when you start the game for the 1st time

I get the intro movie every time I log in. Can't you skip past it? Press the ESC key or whatever?
