Unable to Need for LNC greaves

Aetherial Steel Scale Greaves dropped in Brayflox Longstop but I was unable to "Need" them as Dragoon even though I don't have any in my chest, inventory or on retainer and I was wearing level 28 feet. I didn't receive an error that I already had a like item, just the "Need" button darkened as if to say I was the wrong class, even though they are clearly marked with LNC and DRG. Since my only other option was "Greed" I tried but our tank used "Need" and got them without challenge.

This isn't the first time I've encountered this problem. The last time it happened I was in Haukke Manor but I thought maybe I had been mistaken and only imagined the item had been marked with LNC. This time I was positive and even looked it up on a database to make sure.

happens with all the mrd/war/gla/pld/lnc/drg gear
lnc/drg can only greed while tanks can need.. been wanting this fixed since day 1 too

How long has it been this way? Has it been reported before, and if so why hasn't it been looked into and fixed with one of the patches?
