Not sure if this graphic detail is intended

Ok so I run the game on "Max" settings and the world looks fantastic, that is until I turn, zoom in and look at my character.

All the details on my armour has stupid amounts of bridges even though im at max settings including the AA x 16, now to my knowledge the AA is supposed to remove said bridges on all details and make it "smooth" which this is clearly not.

Do we not have a separate client made for PC users ? Are we only limited to graphical changes that closely match the console version ? (I know no t the same as I have looked at side 2 side comparsons), will we get a fix for this ? its rather ugly.

If there is a fix for this I would greatly appreciate it, below is a picture of what I am seeing.

Have you made sure your graphics card's settings are set to application control? If not... it may be causing issues.

Mine looks that way too, I also tried many different settings in the game and on my CCC to fix it, but it never did get fixed so I just gave up, assuming it was like that normally.

    Yeah I thought this aswell.

Its hard to believe that with all the detail in the worlds environment that the most important thing being your character is so lacking in details
(armour edging/fabric textures), I think that is what makes it more annoying ... Everytime I rotate the camera and see it.
When I look at perfect brick work on the walls then look back that the armour detailing, I wish they did some more tweaks with the PC client, its like the FXAA + anisoscopic filter x16 just don't exist.

Anisotropic filtering is not anti aliasing. The only AA this game has at the moment is FXAA, which is extremely poor. If you need a better form of AA you can try forcing it through your graphic card settings (this doesn't always work) or use sweetFX. Note that doing this can result in blurred text.

The specific problem you are noting is partially due to the fact that armor textures are fairly low res. When the directx 11 client comes out they have said they may release higher res textures and better forms of AA

I know both are not linked exclusively to each other and believe me when I say I have tried everything to sort this.

Also as stated above in my last post, the reason I seen this as odd is because of the amazing environmental details on other things like,
brick work, flooring and wood effects.

It does seem very odd why they would:

    1) Offer Anisoscopic x16 if it does nothing at all
    2) Offer FXAA when it has no effect turning it on/off
    3) Offer such amazing detailed environment when skimping so much on the "major" part of the game character looks and outfits.

I can only hope that there is either a fix for this that I am missing or there is a game update coming to improve the PC graphics, because come on I haven't seen bridges like that since 8-bit.

Edit : seems the time I was quoting you, you was editing your post that last bit you added makes sense.

    1) It does, it just doesn't do anything on armor because that's not really what it's for. Go to ul'dah and look at the ground texture in the distance and turn AF on and off, there is a fairly drastic difference.
    2) Like I said, FXAA is a really poor form of AA. It basically just blurs the screen.
    3) It's just the way they decided to allocate what gets the better textres, nothing the player can do about that

There is no fix in the settings for low texture quality and the best we can hope for is the teased high definition texture pack with DX11

Fingers crossed for CSAA x16 or x32 thrown into the DX11 update, I guess ill have to be patient, so far the game is holding me down and im enjoying myself.

Although I am a self proclaimed graphics > story kind of gamer.
