Have Text Input be the color of the chat you're typing to to cut down on mis-tells

Title says it all. When you're typing something into your chat box, it should be the same color as whatever chat you're about to post to. Party would be blue, linkshell green, say white, etc.

I think that this would cut down on the number of mis-tells by a TON since it's very obvious that if you're typing in orange, you're about to shout that thing you meant for linkshell only, etc.

Shouldn't be that hard to change and it'd be a very nice addition/quality of life improvement.

I would be all for this, if they can implement it the same time as being able to select (or at least darken) the background color for the chat window. The last thing I need is to be unable to see what I'm typing because it matches the environment colors on top of being unable to read what anyone else is saying.

I'd like to respond about this request.

• Countermeasures for accidentally sending messages to the incorrect chat channel
  
  We're currently planning two countermeasures to prevent instances of sending messages to the wrong channel.
  
  The first is to make the text that is entered into the text box the same color as that of the chat mode you are in.
  
  The color of the text for each chat channel can be changed in the chat configuration, so we'll be making it so even if you change the color the text color will match up.
  *We'll be checking readability and as long as there are no issues we will look into being able to toggle this feature on and off.
  
  The other countermeasure we have planned is to make an option so when using keyboard shortcuts to switch chat modes, instead of temporarily switching, you will remain on the chat channel you switched.
  
  As there are some of you who have no issues with the way the system works currently, we'll be making it possible to select options. We are fleshing out all of the specifics and it's possible that this will take a little more time that the first countermeasure.
  
  Both of these countermeasures will be implemented after patch 2.2, but we are aiming to implement them as quickly as possible. (We'd like to address this with an update in between patch 2.2 and patch 2.3.)

Yes Please, they need to change that already! A lot of the time I can't read anything when it's sunny and I have to move the chat box over a shadow to read it lol

You can, just only to one person at a time. Works the same way it did in FFXI - in XI you just use "/chatmode tell Dudebro". In XIV, open the text input and type "/tell Dude Bro" and hit enter. Now the default chatmode will be to send tells to Dude Bro.
