Being denied cutscenes is no worse than holding someone up from proceeding through the dungeon, both parties are disrupting the other's experience. If you want things done a certain way, build your own party and agree to common terms. If you do not do this, do not expect to be catered to. Please take personal responsibility.

There's only one first time though. Once you hit the grind a slower dungeon is only a minor inconvenience, a slightly slower path towards the next whatever piece of armor you have. I find that vastly different in comparison to potential ruination of one's immersion and experience with the story.

So it would be entirely worthwhile for said individuals to use the PF to gather players who have similar interests, or simply don't mind coming in for an extended run to help. Both exist.

The problem lies in solo-queuing DF and expecting others to wait.

The discussion entirely is moot. Just due to the sheer difference in numbers, because as you said this is a one-time thing, you're going to see a vast majority of players who just want to get through the run as fast as possible for their grind and therefore you will be left behind for watching cutscenes. This will have you locked out of fights. That's the trade-off.

The only issue here is being kicked. That's wholly unnecessary and shouldn't be done. I doubt it's common though, because like I said most parties will just proceed.

Here is what I did back then I was a DPS (I have every roles now,so things are not as drammatic as it used to be).

1/Find yourselfs a Tank and/or a Healers (for 4 mans Duns) and either 1 Tank and 2 Healers or 2 Tanks (for 8 mans Duns group)
2/ Queue with them everytime you want to watch the CS. Of course ask them first if they dont mind.
3/Watch the whole party waiting for you whether they like it or not.
    4/ Profit

At this point, the Main Scenario Duty Roulette is full of people trying to get an easy 300 Phil tomes (and trust me, first timers, you'll be there too soon enough). These people can't form their own group because the only way to receive the bonus is to queue up solo. If you want one of these in order to enjoy the story, why would you use the DF anyway? With the Party Finder, you could easily create a "Let's enjoy the story!" group and then shout in Mor/Northern Thanalan and get a group with like minded people.

I'm not saying I'm one of those people that rush others. Heck, I'm the tank that sits at the entrance waiting for everyone to enter, but, there are simply too many people that rage or rush in to reliably enter CM or Prae through DF and expect people to wait while you watch all of the cutscenes (depending on your reading speed, Prae can take an extra 20+ minutes if you watch all of the cutscenes).

Many people here say this, but what you forget is that up to Castrum Meridianum and the Praetorium this isn't really an issue at all in DF (i.e., cutscenes are not), so unless someone told the new players or they happened to read a thread such as this one, there's no reason for them to expect such resentment and hostility from other players for watching cutscenes. In any case, an option to avoid the toxicity in these dungeons does not justify nor deal with the toxic behavior at hand.

The cutscenes in this game are excessively annoying, i need an addon to disable them. Nevertheless I realize many do not share my opinion. Though its funny, i always thought immersion is to go in and whack stuff, not watch movies about it. Here is how I deal with it, personally in game:

    1. start cutscenes in lowbie dungeon, I love them as I can check the party and see if they have a 50, if not it gives me time to decide to leave right then before I get into a wipefest. And yes I happily eat the 30min penalty, i got plenty to do.

    2. Prea and CM cutscenes in roulette, i get 300 tomes to babysit so thats ok, I let you watch all your stuff. Its not your fault SE put in intra-battle CS, so I have seen plenty peeps leaving the movies dead. The tank is the leader so I follow the tank, as do the smart healers. So lockouts happen frequently as most of the content can be easily 4-6 manned. If the tank watches all the cutscenes, normally what I have outlined under #1 comes under consideration.

Also something to consider, I did Prae and CM prior roulette and it was hard to get those done. After 2.1 you DF up and its done with. You have totally inappropriate gear, like LvL 15 jewelery and still there will be some 80+90 iLvL chars Carrying your sorry ass through.

The three fresh 50 peeps I know that went in PF to do CS runs of Praet all ended up failing, but the next DF group carried them through.

I'm surprised by the amount of douche baggery in this thread. When I ran the storyline for the first time! I skipped all the cut scenes because I was informed by friends testing should do so or risk getting abused by the party. (Couldn't get kicked because this was pre 2.1) I regret doing so though because I haven't watched the cut scenes ever. Like someone had mentioned earlier, the cut scenes, when not watched during the course of the dungeon, end up feeling like a huge confusing mess. Why not just give the newbie the time to enjoy the game the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

During the time spent watching cut scenes, I pull out my iPad to read a thread or two on the forums and by the time I look back up, we're just about ready to go. The fact that you're sitting around not doing anything during cut scenes is entirely your fault. My time is precious so I'm not going to sit there being pissed at a newbie. I'd rather spend that time doing something else really quickly.

Can players farm using the party finder or it has to be random duty finder?

I've never done the main scenario roulette and I probably won't ever do it. I've got so many philosophy tomes they're coming out of my ears. I keep capping without realizing it and then wondering what the hell to do with all these useless things. I've already geared up everything before they were so easy to get! Now they're raining everywhere like candy. The only possibility I could even see for needing more philo tomes is if I level an alt to 50.

That said if I ever did do it, I would defend anyone who wanted to watch cutscenes. It's not like watching them will really extend the length of the run much. >_>; Besides, if you're really hard-up for philo tomes, there are far more efficient ways of farming them quickly, like WP speedruns.
