Slow and Fast Chocobos?

I have what appears to be a very friendly but quite slow Chocobo.

What I mean is, I've noticed, running with a mounted FATE pack... just about everyone else can open the distance between me and my bird, and themselves, following the same path. Especially the smaller folks. Lalafel ZOOOOM!

Is this just poor perception or does bird speed really scale with, say, rider weight? (I'm a Hyur Highlander in heavy plate armor). Or bird training?

Time trials, anyone?

All the personal mounts go at the same speed. The only mount that goes a bit slower is the rented chocobo.

What you are seeing is server latency. All mounts run at same speed.

You should work out some more to lose some weight.

Maybe a combined training regiment with your chocobo will help.

You may wish to try lowering your graphical settings. Your movement speed is affected by your framerate: If this drops from something like, say, a humongous crowd of people moving around, your movement speed lowers as well.

I have the feeling that if you are having frame rate issues when the server checks with your computer to see where you are (every .3s) it might find you don't think you're as far as the server would have placed you. Then the server *might* correct this making it so you're moving at a slower speed.
