There needs to be a bit of innovation in terms of MMO design.
There needs to be a suitable alternative to the standard speed run(ugh, speed runs make my nauseous) Vertical Gear Treadmill, that is basic standard design for MMOs.
what that alternative is, I don't know. but the first dev to come up with it and make it work, will be printing money.

This is pretty much all MMO's. If you want to obtain something obviously you have to work to get there. Think of it this way: If you want money to live in a house, have clothes on your back and food to eat you need to have a job right? If you want more than that, I guess to be "successful" then you have to work even harder at that job. By doing so you have to go in and do the SAME thing day after, year after year. It seems to get anywhere in games or life a little repetition is unavoidable. Heck some of the best games I've played have repetition, especially when they're so good that you want to replay them. I think the real question for yourself here is, "Is it repetition that I enjoy?". If not then it's time to move on, no shame in that.

OP pointed out the purpose of a videogame. this game endgame is no different then the first dungeons.
you play to have fun not grind just to grind, almost everything you do someone needs something thats the only reason there doing it. SE really needs to rethink how this game needs to play. there last MMO let you adventure into depths of parts unknown find monster that gave you stuff if you could kill it, even without endgame or level grinding you have stuff to do, they had boss fights called BCNM's you had to trade beastmen seals for a orb then you went to a spot in a beastmen stronghold to start the instance fight. i'll take magian mog trials over ffxiv's hunting log anyday.
i rather have to do simple work to do content then just hit the DF queue there days i login never leave the inn :/, even 1.0 forced you to get items before you could do primal fights.

Fixed that for you. If you're not enjoying it, don't play. Every MMO has this. Every single one.Yes the problem with All MMORPGS is they make you repeat boring tasks you don't really want to
