Extra buffs

I have an archer at lvl 25 and pulgest at 15. I used a few icons back and forth between the 2. When I brought a conjurer to lvl 8, I could not access any icons they have. I wanted the heal and shield buffs. Why can't I get them. My archer has 3 open slots for more icons.

Not all abilities can be used with all classes - each ability icon will list the classes/Jobs it can be equipped to. As well, each class only unlocks extra 'slots' for abilities for other classes as you level up - you get an extra slot every ten levels or so, with only one slot available at the start. So at level 8 CNJ you'll only have one cross class slot open. Gain some more levels in CNJ and you'll have access to more ability slots.

It's true that only certain skills can be used cross-class, but that doesn't explain an inability to use Cure or Protect as an archer or pugilist. Those two skills are usable by all DoW & DoM classes. (They rely on the Mind stat, so you won't get as much healing on those classes where your equipment is boosting Str and Dex as you would when you're a conjurer with equipment that boosts Int and Mnd, but they can still be useful.)

You need to make choices as to which abilities you wish to use. You only have access to one skill per 5 levels of your current class, so up to 10 at level 50. As a level 8 conjurer, you would only have access to a single cross class skill.

Also note that once you equip a job cristal (transforming an archer into bard, for eaxample), you gain new abilities and some hefty stat bonuses, but you also lose half of your cross class slots (from 10 to 5 at level 50) and you can only pick them from the two classes most relevant to yours.

If you are having problems actually slotting the abilities to your bar, then you need to first check them in the cross class abilities section. Once checked, you'll be able to drag them anywhere you wish.
