I've noticed everyone's worrying so much about get to level 50 as fast as possible. Maybe this is just my philosophy, but why not take your time and enjoy the game for what it is. This game has some amazing artwork in it. You can see this in each of the city-states, as well as their surrounding areas (of the places I've been, Gridania is one of the most beautiful game areas I've seen in terms of artistic design).

I do this with all the games that I play. I take my time and look at everything within the game. There are well over 100 people that work on these games, I feel that their hard work deserves much more recognition than simply looking at a minimap to see where you have to turn to get to the next group of enemies so that you can get EXP/SP.

Here's a way to think about it.

1992: Mortal Kombat is made by 4 People (not including the actors): Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel, and Dan Forden
Mortal Kombat is one of the games that drastically helped bring the game industry into what it is today. The graphics were great for it's time, and the game ran extremely well for being such a low-budget project. It was an instant hit in Arcades, and in homes.

Final Fantasy XIV has well over 300 people that have worked on it. I think that these people should be more appreciated than just trying to level up.

    Because for some people:

Ranking up as fast as possible == enjoying the game

    YMMV.

Except if you really want to explore the game, you should be level/rank 50 just to not get slaughtered as you look around.

That Mortal Kombat comparison really does put things in perspective. FFXIV has 300 people working on it, MK had 4, so that explains why FFXIV is 75x more fun right?
