You should probably start with being more specific. What rank are you? I'd say the best way is to find a group you can consistently leve-link with and just try to leve at camps 5 ranks above you.

So, do leves/behest at the R1, R10, and R20 camps until you hit R25. Then start doing Nophica Well's and Nanawa Mines leves with friends until you hit R33-R35.

At that point try to switch you're party to doing the infamous "Static Leves" at Camp Broken Water. You can pretty much find yourself doing these same leves from 35-50. Just raise the star difficulty as your party goes up in rank, and try to aim at having the mobs be about 10 ranks above yours. You'll get to 50 in no time.

Static leves, as I know them, are (Camp Broken Water): Dunesfolk for Dinner, Ravine Reveries, and All Cracked up. (Nophica Wells): Necro- Levinshower.

I believe there is also one in muy-tun cellars that some people use for static, but I can't remember its name.

I hope this helps. While it may be one of the faster ways to rank up, its certainly one of the most repetitive/tedious. Good luck!

    Solo up to 15ish
Behest at (popular R20 camp) with supplementary solo/leves. Until 24ish
Behest at (popular R30 camp) with supplementary solo/leves. Until 34ish *
Behest at (popular R40 camp) until 44ish. *

Where * is, see Aera's post above about leves. More or less.
Failing the desired leves that give great SP is the fastest way to rank up, at the cost of losing out on rewards.

I've noticed everyone's worrying so much about get to level 50 as fast as possible. Maybe this is just my philosophy, but why not take your time and enjoy the game for what it is. This game has some amazing artwork in it. You can see this in each of the city-states, as well as their surrounding areas (of the places I've been, Gridania is one of the most beautiful game areas I've seen in terms of artistic design).

I do this with all the games that I play. I take my time and look at everything within the game. There are well over 100 people that work on these games, I feel that their hard work deserves much more recognition than simply looking at a minimap to see where you have to turn to get to the next group of enemies so that you can get EXP/SP.

Here's a way to think about it.

1992: Mortal Kombat is made by 4 People (not including the actors): Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel, and Dan Forden
Mortal Kombat is one of the games that drastically helped bring the game industry into what it is today. The graphics were great for it's time, and the game ran extremely well for being such a low-budget project. It was an instant hit in Arcades, and in homes.

Final Fantasy XIV has well over 300 people that have worked on it. I think that these people should be more appreciated than just trying to level up.

    Because for some people:

Ranking up as fast as possible == enjoying the game

Your question seems to have been answered quite well, though one more thing I'd throw in:

I'd suggest adding the R40 leve Great Hoary Toads (Limsa/Camp Iron Lake) to your "static" list. It is quite good, and will help keep you from going nuts being stuck in Thanalan all the time.

I'm pretty sure this one is Necrologos: Moon's Mistress, and I found it to be a pretty good leve.

    YMMV.

Except if you really want to explore the game, you should be level/rank 50 just to not get slaughtered as you look around.

That Mortal Kombat comparison really does put things in perspective. FFXIV has 300 people working on it, MK had 4, so that explains why FFXIV is 75x more fun right?
