Why do they try to make tanking harder?

I'm curious, was is the first job you ever leveled that you fated from 5-50 with? And there are always exceptions.

My very first job was a WHM, then SCH/SMN, then Paladin. I'm only good at support classes :<

I did the story quests once I hit 50.
