I know Titan is supposed to be a true challenge but for me he is a fun killer. I tried the fight 80-100 times for sure, both with FC members and randoms. I just get the feeling that I will never ever be able to survive it on my own.

My best attempt was Titan half down after the Heart phase before I died. I got my relic while I was lying on the ground…still hate it to have gotten it that way. I know the rotation, I only do Titan when I am not tired and able to concentrate but still, one of the several dozens of plumes or landslides I have to avoid during the fight hits me because I react too late or choose a wrong direction to move (not the shortest way out).

Funny is, I can help FC members with any other relic fights and Garuda is a few minutes fight I can do like a robot without dying at all. But Titan, the follow up fight to Garuda, is just too much for me it seems. I see the same happening to my FC members. Titan is for the vast majority like a wall. If there wouldn’t be a group of people in our FC who can do the fight and grant a win, most would not have their relics yet. But I myself truly hate to ask to be carried through a fight. But maybe I have to ask again for help….

The fight is very hard for me because of several factors. I do not like Simon says like Game mechanics. Knowing what attacks a boss does is cool but having to follow a strict order of repetitive rotations while Hell is burning loose under your feet is just a tad too much for me and feels like plain stress.

The unforgiving character of the Titan fight adds further pain to it. Even when I make it till the last phase, one of the other in the group gets killed. And we all get killed from making one minor mistake. Missed a plume? Dead. Didn’t see the landslide coming? Dead. Thought you were on the safe side standing next to the AOE? Game sees it differently, you are dead! Reviving is no option, healers can just heal and when you die, the fight is over for you and most of the time also for the entire group because everybody is needed, especially in the Heart phase. No way you survive the tumults or other unavoidable damage with the weakness you have after being resurrected and not to speak of the hostile area that might kill you directly again after resurrection.

It was pain in the ass to get the Relic for my BLM and in the end I got it while lying dead on the ground. Right now I stand in front of Titan again with my WHM. Knowing I did not beat Titan with my main char who has over hundred hours of experience with fights and dungeons, makes me think that I will NEVER EVER get a relic with my unexperienced WHM. So right now, I am not even trying because I know better stuff to do with my limited spare time then to frustrate myself with a fight that is too hard for me and my lack of reflexes.

I would be interested to know how many people really got Titan killed. I mean killed by their own power without being carried through it. I see 10% of players in my FC who tell me “it is easy, just try and get some experience and learn the rotations” but the other 90% are in the same boat I am in. Seems this fight is not meant for the majority of players but I see the Relic fight as a direct follow up to the story mode and only the Relic weapon makes a character complete so for my is the extension of "job gear" like you got the blue Level 50 AF1 pieces. So it is all in all a quite sad situation and VERY frustrating not beeing able to complete my characters.

Enough of the bitching and whining, Life goes also on without Relic. It is just a new experience for me in a Game that there is a fight I am not able to win and am too bad for it no matter how often I try. I wonder if healers can even be carried..the other healer must be VERY good to run the fight on his own.

One good healer is more than enough for Titan HM as long as people are dodging, because the only healing needed is for Stomps and the Tank.

It's largely to do with gearing. There are a lot of people with full i90 gear these days.
For Titan HM, you can overgear it now to the point where not only can seven good people carry one "AFK" person, but FOUR good people can carry FOUR "AFK" people.
Basically, all you need is enough DPS to kill it during the Heart Phase, after that, it's a game of attrition. As long as the healer can continue to counteract the damage from the Footstomps, you end up winning.

Bringing two healers just means you can recover more easily if/when people aren't able to dodge everything that's dodgeable. That said, although it's certainly better to dodge them, with overgearing eating one or two plumes in Titan HM won't kill you and Mountain Busters on an i90 tank that can rotate their cooldowns properly largely just tickle (speaking from experience). Even bombs are less deadly (though again, you should really try to dodge them and bait landslides properly in order to have ROOM to dodge them). Landslides are the only real issue because they automatically knock a non-tank off (Hallowed Ground, Tempered Will, Holmgang all stop the Knockback from Landslides).

Maybe it's just because I've had to up my game in order to beat Titan EM (HATEFUL fight) but Titan HM really doesn't strike me as all that difficult anymore, unless you're doing it with a bunch of people in ~i65 rather than ~i85 gear. I can appreciate that for a new class you're probably only going to have full Darklight or some CT drops, but that doesn't mean you can't bring a few i90'ed buddies to the fight and then swap around whenever they have a lowbie class that needs your help. My FC regularly runs Titan HM for new folks, and without even touching my friendlist I've got at least two linkshells where I could go to find complete strangers who would do the fight for free with me if asked nicely. (And given the gear progression, I'd not be surprised if you could find a PUG or DF group that could beat it after a few attempts...) I've even stopped seeing /shouts selling HM Primal runs, it's all EM Primal runs these days.

I don't think its uncommon for people to be carried, especially for their 1st relic. I know I was. But I felt bad about it, so even after I got it, I still when and did the fight with PuGs to learn how to do it on my own and now and I am better for it. And I have tremendous latency also from playing outside the US. Like others, I learned the rotation and anticipated the moves. Again, Titan is not about your reflexes, its all about memory. Once you learn the memory game you will be able to win consistently. So to you TomTom I say, you owe it to yourself to pug until you can win on your own steam. Then you will have truly earned your relic and will probably have helped a few good others earn theirs as well.

If this were true, I would have my relic by now. I know the fight like the back of my hand. Memory does not excuse mistakes - either ones made by yourself or other members of your party. I knew that plume was coming and I didn't get out of the way in time. I still end up dead. Ran the wrong way when the bombs started exploding. Then I die during the next stomps because the healers have a priority to keep the tank alive over me.
