Help with ideas for converting 8000000 Gil to something for a server transfer....

Your only feasible options are Tier 4 materia and Allagan coins. You can spread out which kind of materia you buy, just try to stick with types that will translate to a gain rather than a loss once you get to your new home. This will allow you to sell off your stock faster since you will be selling in multiple markets rather than flooding a single one or a few.

The allagan peaces have the benefit of translating back to gil as soon as you talk to an NPC, the drawback being you will take time to gather them from the AH and at a guaranteed loss due to taxes and markup over their actual value by the seller.

Between the two I'd favor materia, if nothing else because the Allagan peaces outright introduce gil to your destination server while the materia just transfers others gil to you. SE might take a dim view of sidestepping their restrictions in this manner.

The gil limit is there to prevent transfer for economical purposes. So if u try to bypass it, u may get punished.

I bet 80% of the players who transferred will be banned if they re-check it.

the mail thing is untested on a mass basis so I would hesitate to do that as Kal-el said I would probley get flagged LOL

anyhoo, the t4 seems to go for 15k-30k average on this server, and the same on the other server, so I may have no option but to go that route and hope I don't get hammerfucked on the whole deal

I would look at buying out materia. Go on the server your going to and price check every tier III and tier IV Materia. See what sells more where you are going and lower where you are and buy 8 mil worth of them. I know some of the crafting materia can go for 100's of k and some of the IV's not given as quest rewards sell well too. I few of the Tier III's like Quick Tongue sell well on my server as well.

as an after thought, I can make up to 8 characters on 1 account, and I think if there all on the same world I can lump them all into one transfer (one 18$ fee).... solving my problem! thoughts?

I mean, it's smart and clearly not against the rule, they said X gil PER character. Right?

And if they transfer all your characters. well, there you go! if you alraedy had a character on that new world, well just convert 1m gil or something. plus im pretty sure you are counting the retainer for your main account (its far more than 1m per character. closer to 3m I think?)
