    Pugilist also leading to Puppetmaster wouldn't be that out of place considering the GSM guild is where the Mammets are and it's in the same city. Monk's story doesn't have much in common with Pugilist either, they simply use the same combat style and weapons.

    Psh, give them something actually useful to do. Just like any other weapon, make them available as quest rewards/drops also. There could be an Ifrit Puppet, a Garuda one, a Relic one, etc but also craftable ones. Make the augmentations droppable and craftable too. CRP could make a reinforced crossbow for the RNG puppet, GSM an auto-feeder, ARM could make armour plating for the Tank puppet, BSM a sword-arm, ALC some kind of regen module.

    Heck, you could make the requirements 30 MNK, 15 ALC/GSM

    No, Monk is an extension of Pugilist. It builds on the flavor of the base class. The same with Dragoons and Paladins. I can't see any reason for a class to have built up all that martial skill, to suddenly start using puppets to fight with .. makes no sense. And if they DID come frrm PGL, you'd be a Monk without Dragon Kick/Demolish, still relying on Greased Lightning stacks to do anything.
    Better to make it its own class, with lore and flavor all of its own.
    I can definitely see it starting in Ul'dah though.

    If we ever did get a tech style job building from Pugilist, it'd damn well better be whatever the hell Livia is.

    you will get your whip but for flayer class which is was in class list in version 1.0 but that class will be come as beastmaster i said early :P
