    Pre-updating FFXIV for weekend event

    A friend's message in a bottle:

    "Hey I played in 1.0 and I need to install to take advantage of this weekend event. The problem is I have Somalian warlord internet and need to update tonight in order to be done before Monday. How can I do this? The event starts at 12:00 AM Saturday- that simply is not enough time.

    Actually, it's really more like Somalian 1975 Soviet weapons vendor internet.

    Please help!"

    It won't help him if he still has to download it. The point of this is he has crap for download. Sending him the files via the internet (meaning he still has to download them) doesn't provide any benefit.

    Copy the game to a usb, then over night it.
    Not sure if this complies with ToS tho. But it would get thema customer so..grey area.

    He has to download it before he is able to login. You need to login before you can update, that's the point of the post <.<

    I'm pretty sure the download takes place regardless of if your account is active or not. The only thing that changes is the play button is grayed out and an error about your account is displayed.

    Has he logged into the client yet? What does it show?

    The launcher gets updated but the game update starts only after login, before the green button appears and you cannot login with an inactive account, and that's what this free week-end target is.

    You you overnight it with your full Ffxiv folder he won't need to update anything or log in to check updates. He only then needs to.activate his free account. Friends of mine already did this.

    Updates are store in your FFXIV folder
