1) You don't know who left or why
2) They don't care about you since they already have you. they want more people
3) "Die hard" FF fan will probably buy whatever crap they throw at you as long as it has FF in the title so they don't even need to try

If the only players they wanted were the ones that were playing 1.0, they wouldn't have remade the game.
While it is obviously true that a lot of people have left, changing the game to be more similar to 1.0 would only make them lose more subscribers and roughly go back to 1.0 numbers. At that point they'd just shut down the servers.
Regardless of what you're saying, at the moment at least, there are certainly still a lot more people playing the game than the number that was playing 1.0 at the end of its life.
Rein your ego in a second and ask when I ever said anything about adding tons of content. Did I do so? Did I complain at all about dungeons or quests? No. Every complaint I've made about the current state of the game has been in regards to crafting classes and the economy, and my post did not indicate anything different. Also, I believe Wil Wheaton said it best..."don't be a dick."Fixed by putting into perspective.
Very smart move by SE doing this. For obvious reasons with ESO beta weekend.
oh btw:
We wanted a kick, we got a kick.
we wanted a sort button, we got a sort button.
we wanted a hairdresser etc.
So no, they don't listen:P And if you mean they didnt add 1000s new quests, hundreds more overworld encounters. 10s of new dungeons. Then you need a reality check.
You stated they dont listen to the playerbase and what they ask for, I showed you examples of where they have. If you meant, they didn't listen to what you said and implemented it, you should have made that more clear. Also it takes time, they could have easily seen the suggestions about the economy and craftning/harvesting classes and taking what works on board for later updates. Just because they havn't added something now doesn't mean that they aren't working on it or talking about it.Rein your ego in a second and ask when I ever said anything about adding tons of content. If you said they should be more transparent with their overall roadmap of ARR for maybe the coming year, giving out more info of how they will improve the economy, value of crafting etc and other content. Then I would agree 110%.
I played 1.0 for 2 weeks at launch in 2010. I never looked back. One day I got an email the summer of 2012 for Welcome Back look at the improvements and an invitation to qualify for Legacy account status. Guess what? I came back and never left again. ^^
This statement is probably correct. I stuck through 1.0, and convinced over half a dozen former FFXI friends to try ARR at launch. After a couple months we're down to just 2 left, including myself, and I will be gone soon too. As for those who suggest the XI die-hards go back to that game, for most of us FFXI died when the abyssea expansion came out. ARR wasn't the game I hoped for, and all I can do now is vote with my wallet.
Maybe a year from now I might pop in on another free weekend trial to see what's up.

What new content, oh thats right crystal towers that isnt much. Also the ex primals are not new they are rehashed from the easy and hard mode primals. The dailies I wouldnt even consider content, as you can complete them in under 5 mins per everyone you do. Oh lets not forget the way overpriced housing that was suppose to be the awesome sauce of 2.1 but we all know how that has turned out. SE destroyed the economy even more than it was at launch.
A mildly innovative crafting system that gets easier as you level your crafting classes, which I'm not going to knock it for, it makes sense in a way, but this gets thrown out in the end because it doesn't fit the developers' vision for the game. Other than that, not a damn thing. Everything else is just a copy of other mmo mechanics with a FF spin on them, and even then it was handled pretty poorly.
Well thanks for the response, was just curious as to what others thought. I sort of expected an answer like this. Played a bunch of MMO's for quite a few years now and the only things that stand out to me are all job/classes on one character and the crafting system.
However it doesn't make much sense to have a crafting system which doesn't feel like it was worth the time and effort to level in the first place when you notice all the gear you craft is almost identical to gear you can buy from vendors. Gearing isn't an issue anyways until 50 and once your 50 it's far easier and arguably better to just go with darklight over crafted. the only real benefit then would be food and potions which both don't feel like they are worth the effort for the minimal boost they provide.
As far as the all classes one character thing goes they did that in FFXI so nothing new, and the restrictions placed on your character make it better to just have alts, since they have separate lockouts.
