Gotta agree with this. Too many people wanting XI-HD. The WoW terminology gets to me a little bit but the absolute scum (who until now I reserved for the WoW-heads that played other games for a bit JUST so they could bash it)are the lowest forms of life that are the XI-2-HD-heads. You love XI and it's system so much? Go play that.

This statement is probably correct. I stuck through 1.0, and convinced over half a dozen former FFXI friends to try ARR at launch. After a couple months we're down to just 2 left, including myself, and I will be gone soon too. As for those who suggest the XI die-hards go back to that game, for most of us FFXI died when the abyssea expansion came out. ARR wasn't the game I hoped for, and all I can do now is vote with my wallet.

Maybe a year from now I might pop in on another free weekend trial to see what's up.

You mean like DPS? (Which SE uses on its DPS Roles Forum name.)
Or aggro? (Which SE referrs to with the big 'A' for its aggro meter.)
Or rez? (See the name of the scholar/summoner rez skill.)
Or Pally for a Paladin nickname when chatting in mumble or game chat? (Sure not a formal SE abbreviation and I'll be glad to say pld instead as soon as I can figure out how to pronounce a nickname with no vowels.)

Actually, these terms are pretty generic mmo terms. I've never played WoW but have used them in other games.

My advice for those interested in the origins of many of the terms and elements in MMO RPGs is to go back and take a look at the pen and paper scene. Maybe even buy up a few of the current popular pen and paper RPG games like Pathfinder. RPGs in general owe much of their development to the humble table top books, and even today MMORPGs can't compete with the sheer flexibility and creativity found in them.

I think suffering is a bit melodramatic. It's a good business decision to not let your competitor get all the limelight. I played 1.0 and enjoyed it too but would you rather see ARR's user base drop off a cliff and the game cancelled?

I guess I don't want it cancelled. I don't feel the term "suffering" is melodramatic at all. I have done all the content and am starting to get really bored. Sure I can continue to repeat everything to gear up all jobs. But I just am not that excited about this game anymore and don't have as much desire to play. There really isn't anything to tackle. There isn't anything to focus on for crafting or hunting and raiding.

So I came here to whine and complain in the hopes that SE will do something to improve the quality and level of this game.

Who cares if they left ?
They left because they don't like the game point.

SE does a free weekend to show 2.1 off to people who didn't subscribe again, WoW does this all the time, it's called marketing strategy.

People don't like a game they stop playing it, it's totally normal.

And Alipo, your whining and whatnot won't move SE an inch.
You don't like to get Achievements?, don't like to level all jobs?, don't like to level all crafts?, don't want to wait for the story to continue?, don't have fun playing the game?

Then yeah, try another game, there is no use paying for a game where you're getting bored imo.
Same goes for everyone, pay only if you like the game.

What I can't stand is people making 26748718 posts & threads about others leaving because of X reason and how they'll also leave blah blah blah.

Don't wanna play? Go, don't come to the forums to nag about it.

I have to disagree with this sentiment. The organization of complaints and issues with gameplay is rather terrible on the forums, so it's just generally a mess, and we've seen no evidence as yet that SE is paying any attention to what its playerbase is saying could use improvement or suggestions for new/revised content, but simply not saying anything isn't productive. I like most of the game, but there are things that I feel can be done better. If I, and those like me, aren't willing to try to get through to the devs and instead just leave, then a) the odds of any such changes happening become basically zero, and b) the population drops without any significant chance of recovery. Then it boils down to the remaining playerbase being only those who will take whatever they're handed.

I want the game to be better, something I would continue playing long term, but that probably won't be the case unless certain problems are fixed. If you're fine with everything just the way it is, or willing to trust that without you saying anything, the devs will just magically know how to make the game better, then fine, don't say anything. I would rather state my issues on the off chance that vocalization will improve the odds of problems being addressed.

Making the playerbase increasingly niche is not something I would want, and I doubt it's what the devs would want, either.

    Fixed by putting into perspective.

Very smart move by SE doing this. For obvious reasons with ESO beta weekend.

    oh btw:
We wanted a kick, we got a kick.
we wanted a sort button, we got a sort button.
    we wanted a hairdresser etc.

So no, they don't listen:P And if you mean they didnt add 1000s new quests, hundreds more overworld encounters. 10s of new dungeons. Then you need a reality check.
